1G Datalogger Mounting Solution

Here is my simple solution to mounting a Datalogger on a 1G. There were several places I considered mounting my PalmPilot IIIC. I chose to mount mine in the area between the door and the padded gauge cluster. It fits neatly there without obstructing my view. Best of all I discovered that my heater vent and my vent to keep the side window clear would be ok.

As you can see this is the simple sheet metal mount I created. It is simple 18 gauge sheet metal I had lying around. I cut about a 2"x3" piece and bent it to shape. The side with the red was bent to match the shape of the dash and has double sided tape attached. The other half remains flat and is the side the datalogger will mount to via 3M Velcro.

A little tip I found out was to attach the loop part of the velcro to the datalogger and the hook part to the mount. If you put the hook part of the velcro on the datalogger you might have a hard time properly getting your datalogger in it's cradle.

Here is the simple bracket in place. I trimmed the bracket to mount between the two vents and stuck it in place. I then placed the datalogger in place and adjusted the bend in the mount to give me the best angle. Peel off the velcro backing and stick the datalogger in place. You can now run the line to the Diagnostic Link Connector (DLC). I ran mine behind the kick panel. It comes out at the top of it and then plugs into it.

And here it is. Doesn't obstruct my view and is right beside my boost and oil pressure gauges for quick referrence. Hope this article has helped you with your datalogger mounting solution in a 1G.
