####,
Just got done installing my afpr and got everything adjusted so I could take it out for a ride and went to close the drivers door and all of a sudden the damn window shattered. I didn't even get the door closed before it shattered. I have glass all over my garage and all inside the car. Luckily I only got a few slivers in my hand. Now as soon as I get off work tomorrw I have to see about getting a new window. Sucks cause it is supposed to rain tomorrow and now I have to ride the bike.

I have no clue why it shattered. Ive never had anything like that happen before. No full coverage on the car. Guess I'll be hitting up the junk yard tomorrow

OH NO! Crankwalk, ball joints, transfer case, bending rims, oil pressure, door handles breaking off, NOW SHATTERING WINDOWS!! recall! Damn DSMs. But seriously, that was really random. Dunno what to say

...maybe we could spin this story into being caused by a vented BOV? Yet another reason for newbies not to vent..your window will randomly explode when you least expect it! ROFL

Hey man I really appreciate the idea. I am going to check with a local junkyard tomorrow to see how much they are going to rape me for a window.

have you guys ever had strange marks on your window tint, like wearing the tint down from the inside??? Mitsu, uses fabric, felt like pads on top of METAL brackets that guide the window in the track. They also get compressed when the doors on a 2G shut, notice how your window is like loose when partially rolled up and slammes. If your window was partially rolled up, and you slammed your door, with a totally wasted set of "felt" guides you would be slamming your door, with the glass slamming into a metal bracket inside your door. This hard metal impact in a small section of the glass would be like throwing a piece of metal at your window. Just an idea here, you may want to look into it. Oh, Mitus, does sell this as a servicable replacement part. I think each door has three of them, two are easy to get to , one is a MOFO. good luck.

The thing is I didnt even get the door closed before it shattered. I was just pulling it shut. Oh well I will have a new one tomorrow from the junkyard. The worst part was cleaning all the darn glass.

I feel your pain. My 91 was on the side road over night after I blew the head gasket and some tool decided they wanted the radio more than I did. Well that was two years ago and I thought all of the glass was gone until I was running some wires last week. Well let's just say that after I got back from the hospital getting my hand stitched back together (47 stitches) I broke out the shop vac again.

yeah my friend got shot at in his tahoe and we had a fun time sucking up all the glass with a shop vac, every time we thought we were done we gave the door a nice shake and could still hear glass. Good thing his tint helped keep a lot of the pieces together. There probably is still some glass in there, but we got most of it.

Sorry to hear about the window... i have 2 non tinted 1g windows in my garage for whenever i get that fix it ticket!!
haha

oh man, that really sucks, I did the same thing, I had a tinted passenger window and a none tinted driver window for a while because of that. All I did was shut the door, and boom(sound of glass) pissed me off so bad.

Found out later when I went to put the new one in that the rubber seal inside the door was out of the track, so I put it back in and put in the new window, the door never made a nasty window on metal sound again after that.

LOL!!!

Believe it or not, this exact same thing has happened to me.

I pulled over on the side of the road to use the bathroom and when I returned to enter the vehicle the window shattered. Had to drive 2 hours home in the freezing cold without a sweater :(

Sorry to hear about all the shattered windows I guess I have a pretty strong driver's side window, about two years ago this drunk guy wanted to fight me, I was in my car and he hit the window 3 times with a beer bottle as hard as he could I thought the window was going to brake right there but it didn't, I wasn't so lucky though because as I steped on the gas (and I mean hard) he threw the bottle at my car and broke my left tail light. I still have the marks on my window from the bottle. :|
