"2g big brakes" questions

so are the front rotors on a turbo 92-98 the same size? I have a 90 and I want slotted 2g big brake rotors, which rotors would you guys suggest, i was thinking about stop tech. Also, I need 2 piston calipers, but from what years? Are the rear brakes in a 90 awd the same as a 2g awd? What brake pads would you guys suggest. If there is anything else that I need to know about a 2g brake conversion please let me know. thanks

You are correct on the rotors need the awd (not fwd they are smaller) ones from 92-99. People seem to have good luck with Powerslot, Brembo & Baer. As for the calipers if you want a direct bolt on you will need the awd calipers from 92-94. They use a screw in style fitting where the brake line attaches to the caliper. You can also use a 2g (95-99) awd caliper which is basically the same except it uses a banjo bolt fitting for the brake line. I believe you can get SS lines from RRE that will fit your 1g & have the bango bolt fitting for the 2g caliper, but double check. This info is for the front. As for pads it all depends on what your looking to do. Axxis Metal masters seem to be a popular, a slightly better (and abit more expensive) pad would be the Hawk HPS & another highly recommend pad would be the porterfield R4-S (which are abit more then the Hawk)

That is some good info, here's another question

I have a 92 TSi AWD (w/ABS), I don't think they have the "big brakes", I think mine is an early 92.

My friend has a 96 GSX (no ABS), can I use his front calipers and rotors and retain ABS?

92 brakes are still small ones..not big....he needs 93+ awd to have big brakes.....up to 92 are 10inch and 93+ are 11 inch....i just put 93's on my 92.....way bigger.....works great....

the 93+ AWD swap is a big difference. We have done a lot of them in the shop and have sold even more. Such a great upgrade for the money.

is there a difference between abs and nonabs because i have non abs. Are the calipers the same for abs and non abs? Should I used calipers, new calipers, or some sort of aftermarket ones?

what about the rear rotors, are they the same on my 90 as a 2g?
