If you could clean up my engine bay, how would you go about doing so? I already think it's pretty clean, but give me some of your opinions, I'm open to hear them!

i would say clean that oil off the valve cover and jsut give the engine a nice steam clean. its pretty clean as it is now. just get some dirt out of there

I'd start by wiping up the oil in your valve cover. I took the red paint off of the letters on the valvecover of mine and I think it looks a lot better. I just used an electric drill with a wire brush. It does it pretty quick and gives it a decent polish. You may wanna try it on your whole valvecover if you don't plan on painting/powdercoating it.

Well, for starters, get the oil out of the valve cover, .

Some suggestions.

1. Sandblast/paint valve cover
2. Sandblast/paint intake manifold
3. Get a nice heatshield on that exhaust manifold.
4. Spark plug cover to flow with the valve cover.
5. Clean up the compressor housing on the turbo.
6. Sandblast/clean the lower heat shield.
7. Remove cruise control

IMO, thats all you really need to do cosmetically under the hood to a mostly stock engine

works pretty clean already . maybe try polishing up that intake mani. steel wool+some spare time would do the trick. You could do the same for any polished bracket piece or the throttle body. Simple Green degrease the hell out of everything. It will also do wonders. Other than that, the only way to achieve a "clean" look i would think would be to upgrade to hard intercooler piping and a bigger blingier WTF hairdryer.

I'm looking to get my front mount and piping this Saturday. Along with the fact that I believe my VC is cracked, so I took a little bit of jb-weld to it and let it sit. Have yet to check it out though.

Cruise control helps me save gas. End of story

Turbo will stay there into I'm deep into the 13's, and yes I do have a plan on hitting it by summertime.

Jeez, thats a lot of oil on the valve cover. Also, you can relocate the battery to the rear, it's always an eye sore, at least to me it is.

Alright, jb welded the crack and it holds...for now.

Everyone keeps speaking of spark plug covers! Where, other than Mach V can I get one? Nothing brushed aluminum, it's hideous (No offense to those who have it) I want something black and not OEM

You'd have to search around for it, but i know that someone makes CF spark plug covers

You might be better off just going to machv.com and ordering a carbon fiber sheet and making one. I didn't even look at Carbontrix price. That's a waste!

Powdercoated Valve Cover

clean the intake manifold with a wire brush(or powdercoat it as well to match the VC)

I'm planning on going with a SS polished exhaust manifold cover from a guy here in stl on Gatewaydsm.org, he does very very nice covers.

With the valve cover, I'm looking at going to a friends house sometime soon for a sandblast/powder coat. Black with the polished letters. As well as ordering a new oil filler cap, found a few on ebay that looked somewhat decent, but too polished. Any other place I could look for those?

Yeah, that heat shield is my number one suggestion to the original poster.

dude JMfab writes on their heat shields now? thats ugly.

btw, youre missing a coolant cap, youre breather line/oil catch can isnt hooked up, and youre stereo fuse looks like its disconnected(at least, thats what the thing laying on the intake pointing towards the camera looks like). otherwise clean bay.

I'm pretty sure it's not ready to run-- the spark plug wires aren't even hooked up.

Yeah, I never knew he didn't write it on there before but I don't have a problem wth it. And thanks for pointing that stuff out to me, I was wondering why I kept losing coolant and the car wouldn't start. WTF

I LOVE that valve cover! Very original! Nice engine bay, as well.

Got a little bored and polished up the DOHC 2000 lettering on my VC, tell me what you think.

There is still a lot more I need to do for it to be finished though.
