Hey MAFT users. For those of you who have the extension so you could mount your translator inside the cabin...
How did you run the extension harness to the inside?
The end of the cables have pretty big connectors on them and I really didn't want to put a giant sized hole in my steering column boot. Its already packed with other assorted wires and hoses.

Anybody route theirs another way?

I just cut the connector off of the original translator and ran them thru a grommet on the firewall, then I soldered and heat shrunk the connection on the other side. Basically the same thing you need to do to the mitsu plug since there is not a extention for that.

Alos there was also a drawing about using the stock wires and snipping the connector at the stock MAS and splicing in at the ECU. Only down fall, you can not easily convert back to stock if you need to. I will try to find the drawing on my PC when I get back home, but it can easily be created by following the wiring diagram of the car. Give me a few hours and ill see what I can dig up on the 2nd method.

Crap! I didn't even consider doing that. Thats a great idea. As for the 4 wire plug I bought mine from slowboy. They have both extensions in stock.

I dont want to cut into my stock wiring so I will stick to your first suggestion. Hey, btw where did you mount yours in the cabin? The center console?

Thanks!

Yea, I ran into that problem with the extension as well. I didn't want a huge hole through my firewall. I did what Spoolup did and bundled my own wires through a much smaller hole in the firewall. Do each wire one at a time though, as it can get very confusing with a rats nest of wiring.

Also I am a 2g, but I mounted it in the center console with an LED shining on the dials for night-time adjustability. I was going to mount it in the glove box, but its much easier to access in the center console.

I have mine mounted in the center console, but I have now moved it under the center console since I do not need to adjust it at all due to DSMlink. The glove box is a nice place as well, but I already have my MSD mounted there. Looky here: http://home.comcast.net/~utspoolup/ignition2.JPG but I will be moving these as well soon onto a plate mounted to the firewall since I have gutted the interior of my car. The panels will be still be there, but nothing else under them. I cant find that picture, and after searching the full thorttle forums I see the original link is now broken but here is the thread where it originated from. http://www.fullthrottletech.com/showthread.php?t=306&highlight=maft+inside

The 2g has a nice sized hole under the driver seat for the rear o2 sensor leads to pass through, hint hint. :dsm:
