Mysterious rare 1g.

Anyone else heard of the RARE light wieght 1g?

It was a laser I think built in 94.AWD Turbo DSM, with no AC/power lucks/seatbelts/powersteering, or anything.

I heard of this only once, and thought I might go hunting for it.
 
Ive never heard of that one, but I did hear something about a 180whp factory freak NON turbo being built in the 1st gen cars. Dont know if thats true.
 
maybe not in laser form but I don't see why it wouldn't be that hard in any other 1g awd. My 92 talon awd had cloth interior, no power seats, no abs, no cruise control, and no sunroof. It shouldn't be that hard to find one that has no power windows or locks too.

Edit: only the canadian model 1g's came without power seat belts, and the rest could easily be taken care of, removing the ac isn't a problem and you can use a manual steering rack from a 1.8n/t and put it on your awd.
 
I have heard of a Fittipaldi (sp) edition once before, is this the same?

I wan't talking about making one. I pretty much lightened up my car the way I want to, (A/C system disposed of, back seats (put back ing though), etc.) I was just wondering if anyone else heard about it. I had 2 sources mention it.
 
I was on the understanding that the rarest DSMs period where the 6 bolt/4 bolt cars of 1991/92.

And that the absolute rarest configuration was the 92' Laser RS AWD 6bolt/4bolt.

I could be wrong, this is just what I have gathered over the years of speculation.

I would like to know how many 98 GSXs there were produced total.

It would be neat to know that xxxxx amount of people walk outside everyday and get in THEIR 98 GSXs.

Both the lightweight laser awd and the super high hp 1g are wrong.

A 6 bolt 4 bolt canadian laser rs awd with no other options would have been the lightest vehicle available. All had ps and a/c unless someone had higher authority to delete those options. There weren't any made from the factory like that. The 1g nt story is bs as well. Some guy wrote a thread where he talked about it, but what he did was confuse the engine code with the later 2g 4g63 nt motors that europe got. They had higher compression pistons and stuff, but that motor was never installed into a 1g.

my 90 awd had no a/c from the factory. had a cover where the a/c button should have been. only thing it had that i got rid of was the power steering.
 
I am not sure of this at all but didn't the euros get a 1g with a targa top? I know a few here in the US have tried to convert to this but I believe a few in Europe came from the factory that way.

IMHO the Targa would be the rarest.

IMHO the Targa would be the rarest.

Targas were non-turbo in Europe, and would be a little heavier I would think then a hard top, but lighter then a sunroof car.

No, I explained that already. It was a stupid rumore that some guy started. Not one of these cars has ever been seen anywhere at anytime except for the one that "his uncle had sitting out back" or whatever. The K vin motor was the nt 4g63 put into 2nd gens in europe, these cars have turned up a couple of times.

Do you know if they were 167 HP?

I thought I read in club DSM archives or FAQ's that the U.S. got 200 1g N/T 4g63 167 HP versions for 1 yr only :confused:
 
yes they were around that hp, you're thinking of Xhypno's "how to make a turbo kit for the 4g6e nt" thread which was stickied in the nt forum forever.
