Hey guys.. this is what is happening.. MBC set at 17psi on the evo3 16g with the 7cm housing... the psi goes up to 17psi and holds for maybe 2000rpm, from 5000 - 7000.. the full 17psi isn't hitting when it should. this is what i'm thinking it could be:

My upper IC piping is very flexible (stock) you think by that when it sucks in the airflow drops dramatically? then under boost it'll eventually expand??

And then? I'm still trying to figure out what the problem is? Complet your profile so we know what car/mods.

I think he is saying he is suffering from too much turbo lag.. like he is getting 17psi at 5k which is way late. Exhaust manifold leak?

yes thats correct.. turbo lag. no there is not exhaust manifold leak... the stock upper ic piping is way more weak than my other friends ic piping....

1. How are you sure there are no exhaust leaks? How did you test?

2. Make sure that the flapper is fully closed when the actuator arm is attached.

3. Perform a boost leak test.

Exhaust leaks... you would hear an exhaust leak... my friend with a 90 GSX has one and its loud as piss.... and all it is, is the exhaust gasket is leaking a bit.. so i would assume you would hear that.

Flapper is closed... made sure of that when we installed the evo3 16g

boost leaks... it holds any psi fine at the certain throttle %, if it was leaking it wouldn't hold psi at the same throttle %, it would only drop.

correct?

you can't always hear an exhaust leak especially in these cars, the motor is pretty loud as is. If it was just a gasket then yeah it may his but if your manifold is cracked anywhere like my old one was you probably won't hear it. Stock IC piping should be well enough for 17psi.

The best way to make sure is a pressure test from the tail pipe.

Not true, the evo16g can flow a lot of air, it's probably working extra hard to keep the intake pressurized if you have leaks.

oh ok... well on the manifold there are some hairline like cracks on the top of them.. looks like theres a layer coming off maybe??? kinda looks like it anyway.. maybe it is cracked all the way through. but if it is then the leak is very very very very quiet.
