ok my throttle will only open up 1/4 of the way then the throttle cable plate on the back of the t/b hits the flange of the magnus intake manifold. please let me know if you have had this problem and know a solution. please no not respond giving me guessing ideas. i need to know only if you have a 100% fix for this problem besides me changing to a 1g t/b

If you aren't going to use the TB that the intake manifold was designed for, you could always have someone cut and weld the mounting plate to give you an offset. Think a giant spacer.

But since it really wasn't designed for a 2G TB since why run a 52mm tb on a SMIM. So the answer is, no matter how much you don't want to hear it, buy a $50 throttlebody to match your $500 sheet-metal intake.

We are installing a 2g throttle body on the magnus intake manifold.. Wanted a new tb so went with the ported 58mm tb from machv... The problem we ran into was the 3 vaccuum ports hitting the weld... We eliminated them using a grinder and jb weld...

well you dont know what you are talking about. for your info i have a $250 t/b. its a 2g t/b from bullfrog racing. it is upgraded to a 62mm. thanks for your advise but maybe ask before you make stupid claims

Gonna have to suck it up and get a 1G TB to go with that mani. Expect a nice midrange and top end pull increase! :thumb:

yes i did the same excect thing with my 2g t/b. it has been ported to 62mm and i cut off the 3 vac ports and jb weld also. but now that i have it installed on the intake manifold the t/b plate hitts the intake flange when its only open about 1/4.
do you have problems with it hitting?? is it installed yet??

Might wanna edit that post before some of us start to read into it a little to far.

Really? A $250 upgraded throttle body from Bullfrog Racing. Wow. Good job. Way to spend way to much money. A 1G throttle body can be ported to 60 mm for <$50 and bought for another $50. All that money and you ARE still having problems. Oh wait...I don't know what I am talking about.

Tell me this oh wise master of DSM's: Where does the price of the throttle body OR the inner bore have anything to do with the OUTER fitment of said throttle body? It doesn't. The issue is the outer build and design of the 2G is SMALLER than the 1G that the SMIM was designed for. Therefor I don't care if you spent $1000 or had it bored out to the point that the outer shell was wafer thin, you will STILL have the same problem with your precious Bullfrog Racing throttle body.

The answer is staring you in the face. Either accept it or stop asking the question.

Now, I am sure there is some way to hack and slash it to work. But it would probably require you to hack either your $250 TB or your $500 manifold to get it to work. The only way I can think of physically fitting is to elongate the throttle plate shaft to fit the spring plate arm farther away from the housing body. This is probably your best bet. Other than buying a 1G throttle body that is.

Just my .02 cents.

When I got my Magnus, I moved up to the 62 mm throttle body from BBK. Had to cut the vacuum ports off, but mounted good after that.

Good Luck

Erik

Hey I checked and sure enough the throttle cable is hitting the manifold... Man enough to say I messed up..hehe... Well gonna see what we can do, if not going to look for a 1g tb... t
