"Ur" is not "you are".
There is a difference between "to" and "too".
When something is gotten rid of, it's not because you "loose" it. Something "loose" rattles. If you LOSE something, you can't find it.

And you don't want your brakes to break.

Yes, it matters here.

Thank you for clarifying this! It's bothers me to no end when people cannot type two more letters to fully spell you. It also seems as if nobody knows the difference between too and to. You don't have to be the smartest rock in the box to know these things. Thanks Defiant :thumb:

just wondering where this is going since this is a sticky now. i mean are people gonna start getting banned or something if they don't have proper punctuation or something? i'm just curious to know. just seems to me there would be more important things to gripe about than someone typing "u" instead of "you". i dunno, personally i have better things to do than to gripe about someone's punctuation. not tryin to sound like a *ick, but don't wanna see the mods going overboard here over such trivial stuff such as that. just my 2 cents.

agreed, i think that not doing that one further step shows laziness. i believe that if you cant spell out a whole word, then what makes me think you are going to listen, when people tell you things, just because you don't want to take the time and listen and have patience.
but on the other hand, i think mods are taking it to seriously"(no offense defiant)". i did this "u" instead of "you" and lost rep points. i think taking rep points takes it to far. but if a person can get on and type well i think they should be rewarded(with in reason).
thats just my added 2cents.

If people were able to read and follow the simple guidelines we have in place, this wouldn't be a "sticky", much less an issue.

Drive through.

Exactly. maybe people will start getting suspended. It's a rule, if you break other rules you get suspended so why not this one. If you type like a 5yr-old you will be treated like one.

If we suspend someone because they missused "to" or "too", thats just ####ed up. We have a spell check button, why not add a grammar button and a "did I use this word correctly" button. Then I would understand suspending someone but until then I think its stupid. By the way, I have never received reputation point because I use the spell check button. If you are going to give someone negative points when they don't use it, you should give them positive when they do.

By the way, I used the spell check button before I posted this, just so every one knows. If any word is spelled wrong then it is not my fault.

It's too bad we can't take out the submit reply button from the "Post Reply" screen. Make the submit button available only after you click the Spell Check button. That should take care of most of the gripes people have.

i like that idea.... that should be taken into consideration. :sneaky:

agreed. i can understand some gripes but this just seems to be a bit much to me. gotta just let some things roll off your back and not get offended so easily. i mean, if it were something that was to intentionally harass or provoke someone, that i could understand. but to get all huffy and puffy over this???

i sure didn't realize this was a rule and if it is, maybe we DO need to have some sort of spell check before submitting replies. on my cell phone i constantly text "ur" instead of "your" to save space (or other words) since i can only type so many words in a text. so out of habit i might accidently type it on here. i sure as heck don't wanna be getting banned cause i did something so trivial as that. can't we worry about more important things than this? i can't believe we're having to discuss this

You guys are amuzing. Would you like a button so when you click it, it wipes your ass too? God forbid you put some effort into something trivial as writing a post. Unless you never went to school you should be able to spell and use proper English.

Exactly, there should be no discussion, just type properly. What is so difficult about that?

i don't see a problem at all with someone maybe wanting someone else to type properly. my concern is wondering if people are gonna get banned or something or what? sometimes typo's happen. and not everyone is gonna type properly. i just don't see that happening....even if they should. if banning becomes an issue where do ya draw the line? if this is just an "fyi" thread, then i can see the point of putting it up here as a sticky though, as to maybe weed out some of the typo's taking place. but let's not go overboard.

There's a big difference between typo's and typing like that was on purpose. Typo's I can understand we all do those but they can be remedied by using spell check.

I agree with him. I have no problem with people getting pissed off when someone types like this ( YO DAWGS U GUYS r Da BoMbZ, or helo im azkin kan i vnt me blw of valuve )
anyone who types like this should not only be banned but also hunted down and shot. My problem comes in when people start giving out negative reputation points because I used "to" when I should have used "too" No one here walks on water , and therefore no one is perfect, every one makes a mistake every now and then.

I have one of those, thank you very much. I still don't understand how people who don't have that button can live.

I agree that rep points should not be given out for that reason, they should be given out for accurate/inaccurate tech posts.

I want to ban that one dumb ass who's constantly using 0's for O's.

If you cannot form a properly structured sentence, don't bother posting.

Agreed! That's annoying. I hate people who type like this, "heLLo mY aLteRnaTor diEd toDaY". I always look at it and wonder WTF

I agree on disabling the 'submit' button, until spell check is done. I have submitted a post many times and then clicked on Edit, to do a spell check, but some people don't bother.

Maybe we need to have something that says:
Do NOT post on DSMtuners.com, if you:
1) Do not know the difference between "to" and "too"
2) Do not know the difference between letters and numbers
3) Do not know when to use the [CAPS LOCK] button on your keyboard
4) Do not know when to use the [SHIFT] button on your keyboard
5) Do not know how to use proper sentence structure
6) Do not know how to use proper grammer
If you repeatedly violate the rules above (this will be determined by the moderators), your account will be suspended for 5 days for first violation, 10 days for second and 30 days for third. After 3rd violation, your account will be suspended for 90 days.

BUT, we also need to have something in the profile, because people who are ESOL or ESL or LEP (English as a Second Language or Limited English Proficient), don't need to get bashed and suspended just because English is not their primary language. :dsm:

I'm so glad for this thread. I HATE it when people type like that.

Probably just dropped posts, maybe an irritating PM from some jackass Moderator. It's honestly a pisser when someone obviously knows their shit, but can't type their way across a paragraph. So, some I just have to let skate. If it becomes chronic, especially if it's an in-your-face kind of chronic, it could lead to vacations. Like people who refuse to stop posting street racing videos.
just seems to me there would be more important things to gripe about than someone typing "u" instead of "you".
Well, there is the capitalization of "I", or the first words in sentences. And on the other side of that, the Capitalization Of Every Last Word In Their Effing Posts. Buddy, you don't want to see the list of "important"(yeah, right  ) things there are to bi*** about.

Offenders often think regulations are inappropriate. :toobad:

I don't enjoy having to clean your messes up, so do us all a favor:

Do it once, do it right.

Follow that, your post will remain open for discussion.

There aren't too many people out of the country so I'm pretty much an aware of those guys/girls and that's fine.

Who were you responding to mike? We do have a "quote" button. :tease:

Forgot to add 7) Do not know when to and not to capitalize the first letter in a word.

It is sad that we even have to discuss this on here. :toobad: I won't feel bad if people start getting suspended for not using proper english. I don't send an e-mail to my supervisor at my job saying, "UR glad too be here, aren't ya", so such english does not need to be used on here. That's all I'm saying. This is a professional website, let us keep it that way. :dsm:

 So how much longer is this going to drag out before it gets locked? All i see is just a bunch of repeating stuff. Just lock it, and make sure new people cant post threads till they have read this sticky first. Maybe it will work, in the mean time just use proper spelling.
