Now that I've had a few days with this setup, it is time for a review:

I installed a Buscher Downpipe & Buscher Hi Flow Cat(2.5) with a Greddy Power Extreme. The install took me about 4 hours (stop laughing, I swear Buffalo road salt acts as a neutralizer to WD-40). After much cursing and a ripped nail that hurts like a bi***, I got the system on. Install was pretty straight forward, thanks to VFAQs.

In comparing it with the stock system here is what I noticed:

* The tone at idle and low RPM is a low and throaty growl

* After 3600 or so RPM, the sounds seems to me to be not that much louder than the stock system (although my friend that was following me in his 3000GT swears that it sounds like a screaming banshee out of hell at WOT).

* Airflow seems improved. Turbo spools up as soon as my foot touches the pedal. Turbo spool and acceleration under WOT is SMOOTH. Much different from the stock piping, where sometimes, WOT would jerk or just not pull as much.

* At about 4000 RPM, turbo stops making the usual whoosh sounds, and starts to sound like a jet engine spinning up complete with a whistle like "singing" tone (is this normal?). Pull is improved all around , even a little bit at top end (but it is a t25, I wasn't expecting too much).

All in all, I'm happy with the Greddy PE and the Buscher stuff. I like the sound better than the Thermal and the N1 Dunk. What I will try to do in the near future, seeing that I have friends with Thermals and Dunks on DSMs is to get some wav files of all three systems inside the car and outside the car and post them somewhere so people can compare the sounds.

My only gripe is that the piping hangs a bit lower than stock (can you say SSSCCCRRAPPPPPPEEEE???!!!!) but that seems to be the norm with most of these systems....

Here are some pictures of the completed install:

This was originally written 3-29-2002. I have since switched to a full 3" downpipe/highflow cat, and retained the Greddy Power Extreme
