how reliable are they? im prolly getting the Carbon fiber series one with vaccum and boost...

any1 have any experiences with them ??

thanks!! -josh

i have the 30vac/30psi carbon fiber gauge. i like it because it is that same dull orange gauge lighting my 96gsx has. after 6 months of usage, the needle is now off-centerd. it sits between 1 and 2. kinda crappy for $60. other then that it still works great!!

I have the "regular" boost gauge by autometer... i want to say it's the sportcomp one. I can't really remember right now... long day. Anyways, i've had it since i got the car back in the begining of spring '04. It's still calibrated and works like it should.

Never had a problem with my autometer, and they are fairly priced in my opinion. I have the boost 30-0-30 gauge, and soon EGT and maybe fuel pressure. Very satisfied with autometer.

Only thing I don't like about the Autometer boost gauges are the fact that the needles never remain at 0 after a while. I'm on my 3rd one and all 3 of them barely touch the big square indicating 0psi. Most are at the edges. Now I don't know if the boost is still dead on, or reading 1psi too high/low. I do know that I'm switching to a different brand tho.

Back on topic, here is the new boost gauge that is going to replace the Autometer.

I probably won't be getting THIS exact unit, but I will have the vacuum/boost unit that goes from 30" - 0 - 40psi.

60psi :D

I have the same gauge (-30/30) that you're thinking about getting. if you want it, pay for shipping. It's a POS. The needle sits at -10 when off. I got it about 5 months ago off ebay. I have since then replaced it with a Defi D series boost/vaccum. :thumb:

If you think the lighting of the carbon series matches the stock interior lights, you should check out the Defi D series. It matches the stock gauge cluster perfectly (day and night).

With 60 dollars for a guage you get what you pay for. Buy some good guages, Greddy, Blitz, Apex'i, Defi...get a good name brand with a reputation for being high quality. You will pay more for it, but in my opinion it's worth it when your monitoring vital engine details.

u know that if the gauge is not centered at 0 you can center it yourself instead of buying a new gauge everytime that happens. Take the light out and used a small screw driver and rub the inside spring. You will see it move and you can center it back to 0.

Is there a website to where you can look at these gauges?

There is nothing wrong with Autometer gauges. Lok at all of Nascar, NHRA, SCCA, or any other racing series and you will see nothing but Autometer. I dont understand it, but for some reason, the import crowd thinks its junk if your gauge didnt cost at east 175.00. I have Autometer in everycar I have owned and they all have work perfect.
