Ive been searching and searching and have read many posts but i have yet to find my answer.. :-(

Problem::
-Removed alternator and dash lights stopped working (check engine light, batterey light.etc) and car would Crank but not start. ObdII port cannt connect like it did before this problem
->Headlights, turbo timer, interior lights, cig light, door ajar, TAILIGHTS, and dimmer knob work.

Things ive gone thru::::

- Fusable link (engine fuse in fuse box under hood) is good. It gets power when key is turned ON
- Taillights Fuse under hood is good
- Ignition switch is good, ignition motor fuse is good under hood in fuse box
- Alternator is getting power
- Batterey is good (16 volts when car not under load)
- All fuses under dash are good, all fuses under hood are good.

PLEASE!!! Help, im freaking LOST!

- Batterey is good (16 volts when car not under load)

16V is kinda high isn't it? When my alternator went bad and over charged my system (18V, no load) it destroyed a LOT of electrical components. Did you have an electrical/overcharging issue before your alternator replacement?

Yeah 16 volts IS a lot! I just figured the voltage would go down when it was under load...

Ive had this car for a week. I decided to poke around and clean up the engine bay and i started by taking out alternator to clean it.. I think i left the batterey connected while doing this (dumb move) but i have no idea about a charging system problem because i havent owned it long.

I think the highest I've seen on both of my cars in working order is 14V with the car off, then around 13ish V at idle. If the alternator was removed with the battery still connected, you may have caused a short...regardless 16V indicate a bad alternator. Napa and Autozone offer a lifetime warranty replacement. After you replace your alternator, I would start checking all of your fuses, relays, bulbs and sensors. Again, when mine went out, it took out ALOT of things...including my modified Eprom ECU...not fun.

Crap...

Wait a sec, i dont want to go around replacing things that dont even need to be replaced.
My car is being prevented from starting because of some kind of short in my system. IF my alternator is overcharging my batterey and this high voltage is shorting something out then SOME fuse must have been blown which WASNT. Cant i just try to start my car with a different battery that is reading 12-13 volts? This would get me past hurdle of starting my car and then i could diagrnose charging system problem.

That sound about right? Im gonna try this as soon as cars move out of my driveway..

ANy other suggestions WOULD BE GREAT
