Im not sure if this is the right place to post the customary 'newbie hello to forums' topic but I figured Id do it here, Im sure itll be moved if not.
Anyway, Im acquiring a black '91 Galant VR4 with 65k miles from my grandfather for $200 in two weeks time. Why only 65k miles you ask? Because hes a car freak, and has garaged it more than he drove it. Why only $200? Simply because he loves me
. I have a one way plane ticket to San Antonio from D.C. in two weeks, so Ill be road tripping her home (something Im scared to do because Ive only learned how to drive 5MT in the past few days).
A little bit about myself, I just turned 19 and Im a student at Virginia Tech studying International Studies with an Econ minor (Hokies crush Auburn at the Sugar Bowl!). Ive been drivng a 6G Accord V6 which is a fun car to mod although Its not worth doing a whole lot to. Dont worry, Im not going to rice out my new acquisition (quite the opposite really, trying to keep her a sleeper - hence the user name) so you wont be hearing from me what the best BOV to get is. Im a noob to DSMs but not forums so Im highly educated on the value of the Search feature (member at: honda-tech.com, clubwrx.net, 300zxclub.com). I have already read a lot of the FAQ page and have found enough reading to keep me busy for a while.
Im not sure whether I want to mod the galant or not. In the best interest of resale value Itd be better to keep her stock, but modding is addictive and way too much fun. If I do anything itll only be a boost controller, turbo back exhaust, and maybe a nice set of volks. Thoughts on that? Well, my intro has already turned out to be longer than envisioned so in conclusion, Id appreciate any and all words of wisdom to a new DSM owner. Thanks for reading and I hope to meet a lot of cool people and learn more about DSMs than one should ever know.
