I havent bought injectors before so Im not 100% sure of what to look for but I need to know if a set of injectors I purchased are new or used. I purchased these online from someone who clamed they were brand new and never installed, so I paid a good $ for them. When I recieved them the o rings & seals were defently used (cut, dirty and dried out seals). I emailed him about the injectors being used and not new as he stated to me but he replied that he just threw in his old seals and that the injectors themselves are new. The injectors smell of gas, they were covered in some oil and gas, the end where they inject the fuel looked dirty and there are a bunch of scratches on the body also there are a bunch of scratches concentrated about 3/4" from the tip of the injector (looks like maybe this is where they might rub in the head when installed?) So how can I tell if these are in fact new or not? Not being sure if they're new or not I would have to get them cleaned, tested & get new o rings so they would end up costing me more then buying a new set from a performance shop. So if these are infact used I will be tacking action to get some/all of my money back, any help would be greatly appreciated.

sound used to me...do you have a picture? Brand new ones should be clean, and there is no reason to put old o-rings on just to send them to you, that makes no sense.

Well, if the seller doesn't work with you on the issue I would definitely have them cleaned and flow tested prior to installation. Hope everything works out.

OK I'll try and post some pics later, Ive already cleaned then up so they dont look as dirty. But it looks like I was right by thinking they are used. When they are new do they normally smell like gas? I would imagine if they are flow tested when they are new they dont use gas (eg. on RC engineering web site its say they use ..., can't remeber what but it wasn't gas)

Probably used. Did he say what brand tey were? What size are they? RC is one of the best for their clean and test/flow work. I think they get $26.50 per injector to clean and flow to give you what they are size wise at 43 PSI pressure. Mark
Another reason to buy new unless you know the seller or make sure the seller has good feedback. mark

you will get MUCH better pricing and service out of this guy:

he does NOT sell injectors, only clean and flow, so he is not biased. also, he flows them at more than one level. most other places only flow at wot, but unless you are driving at wot all the time, you will want flow rates at lower rpms, this is were a lot of injectors differ. i just went thru a bout with fic injectors, which were junk. i have replaced them with denso's, and the difference is astounding. i believe the injectors that were sold to me were not correctly rated, and i bought them brand new. also, EVERY set of used injectors, including the ones on my cars, i have had cleaned and flowed, and every one has improved about 20%. also, after cleaning and flowing, the flow rates get a lot closer together. the only ones i had a problem with was lucas, a few of them ended up shooting fluid out in 6 tiny streams. probably why bmw had them all changed out, and at the same time a sib appeared about hydro lock.

Your right his prices are much better then RC (basically half), & it looks like they do a pretty good job. I still feel that these are in fact used injectors so I think I'll send them to him just to be sure. I guess paying $50 to make sure their right is alot better then buying a new motor.
