this head was in a car that overboosted and fried a piston obviously. it had some little slg things on it that fell off. now heres my question. this pitting is not bad at all and i beleive if a valve job was performed it would come out. i need a second opinion on this here guys. the valves are ok, the head is the cleanest used head i have ever seen. it would be a damn crying shame if this thing couldnt be fixed.

also if it can be id liek to know if this can be used on a 6-bolt block.it fits on the 64 6-botl i have here without any hassle and i know the head studs are different sizes between the 2. if i change head studs will this work. thanx for the help. heres some pics. i have bigger if needed

mines a 1g 7-bolt head. and itll be mated to a 1g 6-botl if i can make it work. i got the head for free and its clean up top just not the bottom. the top is very clean. just need to find out if the pitting can be machined out and if it can be mated to a 1g block

Well I have already told you that it can be mated to a 1G block if you drill it out using 1g arp studs.

Don't bother trying to save the valve just put new one's in. The damage is slight. Have the bowls re-cut and new valves with a 3 or 5 angle done and call it a day. If your tight on cash just re-do the valves in that cylinder, it doesn't really make a difference as long as the rest are ok.

i could hug you man. i was gonan get a 3 angle valve job done and use arp studs anyway. dude says its a 7-botl head but i put a 6-bolt head stud in there and the head bore for the stud was a hair bigger. i know it was a 6-botl head stud too.

thanx for the help jim you just made me a very happy man. this baby will be doen very soon.

nto sure if your talkign to me or jim. heres a close up of the inside of mine. little dirt from being in the bed of my boys truck. but ill have it cleaned

there minor pits. very very minor. some buggers also.

ill get it checked out and see whats up.the story is the kids fuel pump was wired wrong and it ran for abotu 5 minutes. idled and the kid went to drive it around the block and it boosted once to abotu 4k then boom. motor quit.

should be ok. but a machinist would be better at guessing that then me

new question, im thinkin this is a 6-botl head. i laid it on the block in my garage and a stock 6-botl head stud slid right through and into the block and threaded. if it was a 7 botl head would this happen. being the 7-botl head uses smaller studs as dsmjim stated above.

if its a 6-botl head that would be good. less machine work and stuff to deal with
