REBUILT MOTOR QUESTIONS..please help

Before i rebuilt my motor, It ran great , i lost compression in the #3 cyl.. I picked the car up today.I had the balance shafts removed(used the proper kit from S.B.R.), block bored .20 over, rebuild kit from S.B.R. head reworked with a 3 angle valve job, crank was polished and the oil journals were opened a little for better lubrication at higher rpm's .WELLLLL..
1.I think the isc motor is completely shot.. my car pulses between 700-1000 rpm at idle...Is the ISC motor off of a n/a 2.0 motor the same as mine?
2.It drinks gas like a bandit.I filled the car completely up with 93 octane and drove it 44 miles, now the gas hand is almost on the 3/4 tank mark!! Mostly cruising on the highway at about 85mph.
3.At idle the oil pressure guage is reading about normal(for the stock guage). BUT, when i get up into the higher rpm range the oil pressure guage will only go directly on the mark under the OIL (on the factory guage). That worries me!!! Even at 85 mph it went there and stayed!
4.It has no where near the power of the old motor.. I understand it is new, and only has about 150 miles on it, but i was expecting a little more..Will this change? Everyone is telling me the motor is still TIGHT.. and thats the reason for problems 2,3, and 4.. could this be true?
5.The valves are taping.
6.The exhaust is LOUD AS HELL!!!!! I have a 3' exhaust from the O2 housing, going thru a magnaflow muffler.. Before the rebuild, it was deep toned with a low rumble, NOW it sounds as if i have taken the muffler off!
7. can i use a smaller oil filter to get the oil pressure up?
PLEASE HELP ME! I AM VERY CONCERNED, AND :mad: !
 
I don't know where to begin. :(

1. You can test the ISC motor with a multimeter (per the shop manual instructions) to determine whether it's broken.

2. Unsure of what to say since you don't say whether the car is running "bad", i.e. rich, stumbling, etc, indicative of too much fuel delivery.

3. The factory oil pressure gauge is crap.

4. Please follow the break-in instructions from your rebuilder ...

5. Do you have the first-gen or later (revised) lash adjusters?

6. Check for exhaust leaks.

I got another ISC.. so thats fine.-I checked this morning for exhaust leakes, none were found.. I have regular 1st gen lifters on 10w-30..How bad off is the factory oil guage?
 
The stock gauges are junk especially the boost and fuel gauges don't base mileage off that thing. My first quater finishes in 30-40 miles and then the last 3 quarters last progressively longer and when it reads empty it has 4 gallons left in it. Many other people have complained about the gas gauge. Replace your oil gauge with an aftermarket one and your boost gauge too if you plan to play with your boost. As for the power issue I would finish breaking and the motor before racing it around. Also something to check is timing. If your cams are off 1 tooth on either cam your idle will be crappy propable and your power will definitely be low. Also you can check your CAS for base timing make sure that's at 5* BTC. If you want your valve tick to end your going to just have to spend the 150 and get revised lifters. If your timing belt is off there's no better time to replace the lifters. Do you have a datalogger? If so you should see if your engine temp sensor, TPS and O2 sensor are giving good readings they all effect mileage pretty good.
 
well. i switch to mazda miata oil filter. the oil presure went to about normal(according to the stock guage). and i also found a leak in the oil filter housing.. over the past week it has gotten alot worse and is constantly leaking oil.. for example- before i left for work last night i topped off the oil(i now use 20w-50) drove to work. (about 20 highway miles) oil pressure stayed at the second mark (the one before the OIL on the guage) even doing about 80mph it never got any higher.. came home this morning, soon as i pulled into my neighborhood the oil light flashed. pulled into my driveway and it fluttered on and off. i let it cool down and checked the oil. I was a quart and a half low. is there a rebuild for the oil filter housing? if not where can i get another?it is leaking behind the ridged oil filter plate.
 
It could be leaking from the smaller oil filter, the rubber ring on it mught not be able to seal properly when under higher pressure. I would switch back the factory filter and update your oil gauge, you can find quality ones for 35$ and up. Did you new motor receive a new oil pump? I have had defective one's right out of the box.
