How Much Light Do You Get From Ebay Projectors

well i don't have them on MY car, but my buddy (thomas91169) on here does. they didn't make a real noticable difference in my opinion....mostly just for looks....

I'm not sure how much they improved over the 97-99 headlights, but there was a marked improvement between my 95 headlights with silverstars, and my 97-99 projectors with silverstars.

My eBay projectors suck. They shine about half as bright as the stockers. The only reaso I got them was because I needed a new one and one pair of projectors was half as much as one new OEM headlight..... IMO, they are for looks. I have to drive with my brights on to see anything..... At least they're cheap. :thumb:

What kind did you get? I've heard the older ones project much light, but most people I've talked to haven't had very many complaints about the 'new' halo ones.

i thought it made a huge difference, so muck of a difference over stock my freind(sinister) is going to get a set also.

Mine are older. I got them about 2 years ago. The new Halo ones are worse though.... As good as OEM headlights look, I'm seriously considering switching back. Then I'll be able to see again. :dsm:

Was there a major difference between the stock 95-96 headlights and the 97-99 as far as the reflector housing? It seems lik most the people that saw an improvement switched from 95-96 and the people that didn't like them had 97-99.

This post went all over the place but it seems like most people think they suck.

I may just have to get silverstars for my stock 98 headlights and see if that helps.

HID is just to damn expensive and most of the time they look like ass.

Keep em' coming....

The other night I was driving and realized my lights suck. I've had them for almost a year now, bought them because they looked good but you can't see shit at night. I realized that I wouldn't be able to drive at night if it weren't for others cars headlights on the road. OMG

just go to altezzawarehouse.com and get those they're brighter than the stock and look really good.

On my 96 I thought my ebay projectors (halo) looked WAY better than stock. Appearance wise they look amazingly better, and lighting wise they look better too... but my stockers were alllllll fogged up

Yeah dude, I think you're right. From dim to bright, it seems to go..........

2Ga =======> eBay projectors ========> 2Gb

If you're going to upgrade, get something better than what you already got. Dont go backwards on the chain.

i cant see crap with mine. I think i'll install some PIAA fog lights to assist the headlights.

By the way, if you're gonna fork out the cash for silverstars, you might as well spend a bit more and get a set of PIAA Xtreme white bulbs. They blow the silverstars away. Too bad CATZ quit making their h.i.d. kits

If you do a retrofit correctly, using optics designed for HID, it will look damned good. This is also assuming you use good bulbs(Philips or Osram-Sylvania), with a temperature around 4300K. If you use those "8000K" or higher bulbs, it's gonna look like ass.

But a retrofit is pretty damned expensive.

Most ebay projectors, use H1 bulbs. Those are for FOG LIGHTS! also, if you look at the projectors them selves they are usually really shitty quality with all kinds of air bubbles in them.

and honestly, a good HID retrofit isn't THAT much. You pay maybe $200 for a nice set of Audi TT projectors (or Euro Golf ones if you can find them. they are even smaller, but harder to find). then good bulb/ballast setup will run you $200 if you shop arround. so we're at $400. Buy the cheapest projectors you can find for about $150, little elbow grease, and boom your done. $650 out the door. And the ncicer shitty projectors run close to $400/pair.

I got my projectors from Summit.. but they look like the same ones as the ones in your link. They work fine for me, I see everything great! But maybe that's just me?
