RIP Eric =(

Hey folks,

tonight at around 6 pm A kid named eric johnson crashed his car into a tree while racing down a narrow road. He was racing another car,lost control and hit a tree sideways at atleast 60mph. He died on impact and the passenger isnt looking to good. Eric was a close friend to my little brother and was a senior in high school. He was the kid that always wanted to hang out with our racing crew, always came and wanted to learn and watch while we worked on the cars. He was 17, smart and was a great kid. My little brother is crushed along with alot of their friends. We can only hope that things like this help teach others to be more careful. While he made the mistake of racing down a dangerous road he lost his life and is a tragedy.

If anyone could say a prayer for him it would be great

Sorry to hear this happened. Loss of life is tragic and the impact is worse when it happens in our area. I hope everone close to him can get through this.

thanks guys, my little bro and all his friends were hit hard, they are all together right now. I'm sure they will be ok, it just will take time. I know i went through lots of things like this growing up and it never gets easier. I can only help that this will help mylittle brother and his friends be better drivers. Really makes my second guess buyin my little Bro a 1g. :confused:

My condolences... I don't think you have to worry anymore about your brother, kids have a tendancy to learn when they see something first hand, and maybe this will teach everyone a valuable license. My prayers with his family and yours.

So sorry to hear man. At such a young age too, he was my age. This scares me even more now that i just got out of the hospital for rolling my car 3 times doing 120, i got lucky. Ill say a prayer for him tonight

Why do some people on here do 145-150? Im Young, dumb and that car was able to do it. i dunno I dont remember anything about it.

Im not going to lie.. I enjoy somtimes going fast but there's a time and place for it! I cant understand why kids think they can take turns at 120?? I think it should take more to get a lisence then to pass a test.

yeah i mean we all do it, we can deny it all we want but we love to get on it from time to time.

I am really glad you were lucky to survive the car rolling over man. Consider yourself blessed.

I just saw his brother which is my age (22) and i have never seen a more broken person in my life. I can't even imagen how i would feel if i lost my brother.

You know it hit hardest when we saw the news report and they showed his car SMASHED against the tree. It looked like a big crushed beer can. He wasnt wearing his seatbelt either and he was found in the back of the car sprawled out. Dead at the scene. :cry:

I know how you feel man i lost 2 of my friends 1 year ago on the 14th from a car wreck one was 16 and the other was only 15. They were doing around 70 on there way home and the truck hydroplaned went off of the road and into a tree. They both died on impact. They were only 1 block from his house and his dad is the one who found them. It was honestly one of the hardest things to go through in my life. Just let your brother know that it will get better with time and he will always have the memories.

My lord.... Thats a painful lesson to endure, I hope to God, that this will teach his peers that driving recklessly will have its consquences, wether it be a ticket, blown tire, or a persons life. That way, at least in some disfunctional way, Erics death will have a meaning. I will pray for the life of his Brother and for those who are affected.

No offence, I dont mean to sound cold. But this is EXACTLY why you should keep it off the streets. Maybe all of his friends will learn something from his mistake.

I mean i cant handle loosing the friends that i have, i couldnt imagen the pain if i lost on of my brothers or later on lost a son.......

This makes me worry about a certain someone I know that "pushes the limits" sometimes.... I can't and don't even want to think how I would feel if something happened to him....

Turns out he was passing the camaro on a 2 lane road, read the road wrong and came into a turn and went straight into the tree. He didnt stand a chance. Worst of all he wasnt wearing his seatbelt so he was found in the back of the car sprawled out.

Vienna Teen Killed in Apparent Road Race

A 16-year-old boy was killed and his teenage passenger was seriously injured after their car crashed into a tree late yesterday during an apparent race with another vehicle in Vienna, Fairfax County police said.

Police identified the driver last night as Eric Pearce Johnson of Vienna. He died on the scene after losing control of his Mazda Protege at a high rate of speed, swerving off the road and striking a tree in the 10200 block of Vale Drive about 5:25 p.m., police said.

Johnson and his 16-year-old passenger, whose name was not released last night, were students at James Madison High School, police said. The passenger was taken by helicopter to Inova Fairfax Hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police said their preliminary investigation indicated that the teenagers were racing another vehicle on Vale, a hilly, curvy two-lane street that neighborhood residents say is often used for racing.

Last night, police charged Christopher Lee Simms, 19, of Vienna with reckless driving, a misdemeanor. They said he was driving a Chevrolet Camaro and racing with Johnson's vehicle. Simms was being held last night at Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Police said Johnson was driving west, trying to pass Simms's car and crossing the double yellow line on Vale, near Hunter Mill Drive, when he lost control of his car. A steep curve about 100 feet from the accident site might have contributed to the crash, Sgt. Rich Perez of the Fairfax County Police Department said.

"The driver of the Mazda, with another vehicle, were engaged in an exhibition of speed," Perez said.

Neighbors said the road has served for years as a racetrack for youths in the area.

Kenneth E. Hill, 67, who has lived on Vale Drive for 33 years, said traffic signs warning about a steep curve are posted.

"It hasn't been neglect'' on the part of officials, Hill said. "It's been stupidity on the part of the teenagers that decided they have to race their cars."

Hill said he was inside his home when he heard the loud crash.

"I heard the thud," he said. "I thought it was someone hitting a pothole. I just saw the car wrapped around the tree."

The accident is the 41st traffic fatality this year in Fairfax County.

Holy shit.....I drove past this scene yesterday on my way home after work. It was just about all cleared up....I saw no car....just police and the helicopter in a grassy area nearby the scene... damn.........

Edit: or actually now I think of it....i probably didn't see the car cuz I was on Hunter Mill or whatever that road is that intersects with Vale.
