Well I only have about 3 months worth of time on this clutch, and maybe 3000 miles, but when I showed up at the track in Nurburg, it just took a crap on me. It would not go into gear with the engine turning. I stuck it into gear and started it, it made a awful noise. So I got it towed the 3 hours back home.

The Springs were lose for some reason and one them them popped out, wedged itself between the ALSO brand new Fidanza Flywheel and destroyed bothe the clutch and the flywheel, can we say "$640 down the drain."

Here ya go enjoy the pics

And alas, the flywheel... COMPLETELY destroyed. To many high revs with this thing and it would explode and hurt someone, so its no longer being used.

About a mile from the track, the clutch felt bad and I thought my tranny went out. It was hard to shift and it sounded awful when I stopped and I had it in gear with the cltuch depressed. I made it to the parking lot of the track, but that was it. I didn't even get a chance to take around. I just drove the MB SLK200 Kompressor we rented and went drifting, then towed the Talon home at the end of the day.

I had this EXACT problem. the clutch was ~1500 miles old. I even broke it in! one day it just started making a wierd clunking noise, and wouldnt disengage. pulled the tranny and pieces of spring fell out :thumbdown only 2 of the springs were still together, the rest were broken in half and one was in three pieces.

I was lucky, however, it didnt cause anywhere near as much damage as it did to yours.

Sorry to hear about it, try complaining to act about it. I left mine sit to long and the warranty ran out.

Hey... you are lucky it didn't explode. That happened on my car. Not a pretty site but, everyone in the car was lucky and didn't get hurt. It still sucks though! Sorry to hear about it.

When did the ACT quality go to sh*t. I have always heard good things and got nothing but recommendation, from vendors ect. I am going to call ACT up. I'll need some ammo. So I gonna reference this thread. I just thought I got a rare factory defect, but it seems its a common problem, and if thats so, then ACT can replace the $360 Lightweight flywheel that was destroyed on account of thier negligance.

Regards,
Sean B.

hmmmm, yah Ide contact ACT. But As far as I know, Since its a "Performance" clutch. There going to blame it on you for "Out Performing" the clutch.

That also happened to my ACT 2100. Spring poped out. But it didn't hurt the flyhweel.
the differnce between ACT2100 and ACT2600 is that PP. The Street Clutch discs are all the same.

They'll most likely told you what they told my friend Alan when this EXACT same thing happened to him. "You were driving the car excessively hard. Slamming gears. Forced the spring to dislodge. It's not our problem." (That's verbatim, but you get the idea).

I had an extra one, so I don't need another ACT clutch. What about the $360 Flywheel that was destroyed!
