Well I have all of my interior back into the car except for the door panels now. They will be painted this week and installed because I'm going to a show this weekend.

Here's some shots of the Dash installed.....

its fiberglass

to take outthe airbags, you unplug the battery, wait 20 minutes then unplug the airbags

Did you actually fiberglass the dash or did you just cover it in bondo and spot putty? Or did you just cover the original dash with glass?

I took a spare dash that I picked up and fiberglassed over it and molded the gauge pod in place on the driver's side. I then filled any holes and smoothed it out with bondo and spot putty.

As far as air bags.... I didn't unplug the driver's side air bag... just dropped the steering column so I could remove and install the dash. The passenger air bag has 2 bolts and 2-3 screwed up underneath it and behind the glove box. Once those are unbolted you can pull it out some and see the red wire harness that connects it. Disconnect that and you can pull the air bag right out. Just BE SURE YOU HAVE DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY.

Disconnect both positive and negative battery cables. Otherwise that silly SRS light will be on when you reconnect.

Thanks! :D

How did u mount the s-afc?

When I made the pod for the AFC I made a base for it out of fiberglass to form to the headliner. This fiberglass base has a tab that goes under the Sunroof trim piece to keep the front in place. Otherwise it is held one by industrial strength velcro so that it can be easily removed in the event that the sunroof gets stuck open and I would have to use the crank to shut it.

oh yea, gotta love those TypeRs!

amazing subs!

their component sets are great too!!!

Yeah I have all Alpine Type R speakers and they sound great. I love the subs and components especially. I wish I would have gotten a component set for the rear as well instead of the 6.5' coaxils but it still sounds great. I keep it mostly faded towards the front and only use the coaxils as rear fill anyway.

WOW. i am truly impressed and i'm not usually really big on this type of stuff, but its damn nice. right now i have about half of a shitty grey interior, im planning on using my heated garage over the winter to piece together a black and tan interior with some more TV's, and the black sections i'd like to make shiney and smooth, how'd you do it?

 VERY nice Nate!!! Eventually I will make it up there one day and meet you. Nice work though. Definitely need a aftermarket steering wheel to help set that dash off!!

Yeah, actually I want to get an EVO 8 steering wheel. That way I can still have a functional airbag.

Thats very clean, i espically like how you have the gauge pods mounted. how long did it take you to replace the entire dash? seems rather complex. think its time i started looking into a dash rework
