Yep I am a newbie to DSMs. I have a modded 87 Trans Am but I needed a car with better gas mileage to drive daily. I picked up a 1992 Eclipse GSX 5-Speed for $3,500. The car has 66,000 original miles and I bought it from the original owner. He took extremely good care of the car and its in great shape. He recently replaced the timing belt, CV boots, front oil seal, and clutch. He even gave me the original window sticker and work invoices for anything that was done to the car. The build date on the car was Sep 1991 so a buddy told me that meant the car had the 6 bolt engine and 4-bolt rear which is supposed to be really good. I don't know which are the better years to these cars since I am new to them. All in all I think I got a good deal and I am very happy with the car. It's much more comfortable than the TA and a lot of the import guys I hang out with really seem to appreciate these cars. So I am saying hello and I look forward to having some fun with this car :) :dsm:

I just checked under the rear of the car and it is the 4-bolt rear end :) That link you gave really made it easy to determine plus now I know the differences between the 3 and four bolt rears.

Good to hear.
Congrats on your badass car purchase.

Just so you know your's is probably the Best setup dsm stocktrim wise.
Hopefully you will also checkout the tuning guide to see what to do to the baby first.
But so you know I'm going to tell you before anyone else does.

Boost Gauge First No other mods before this. That way you know what your running and when your running it.

Now get out there order some mods and get to killing those v8's!

Thanks guys :thumb: Not a whole lot of mods planned right now. From my experience stock cars are usually the most reliable. Boost gauge is definently going to be my first buy for the car though. As far as smoking V8s, well I am kind of playing on both sides of the fence there being that I own a V8 :p I have some pics of the DSM on my cardomain site on page 6

The Link

The pics were taken in a rush and while the car was really dirty. I am going to get some good pics pretty soon of the car cleaned off and will post them for you guys.

I play both sides of the court also as you can see in the pics Ive attached. But I can honestly say the dsm is faster than the GT. Sounds like you got a really good deal. Now go get you a boost gauge. :thumb:

When I bought it, I wanted a v8 rwd but the camaro/firebird was a little too long in the front for my wife to drive. Plus the mustang has a little less power than the f body. She alredy spun the stang around in the road and hit a tree with it and that was before the 4.10 gears. I think the f body would have been a little too much. ;)

Some of you may of read my post about my recent GSX buy here
Well I finally got some good pictures of the 1992 GSX which I put on my cardomain site. Check it out on my link below.
My 1992 GSX
I have really been enjoying this car.
