Ok Guys. Fusion Imports has agreed to make a body kit for either the 1G or the 2G Eclipse. On the poll I posted a bit ago, there was slightly more interest for the 1G, but I'm guessing there is enough people that would want a new kit for the 2G. They said they could make a kit for each if we found enough people interested.

This new thread is to put together a group buy project for a new body kit for the 2G . Here is the information I have:

Unfortunetly, we are not prototyping new style kits, but we do have the facilities to take a currently existing style of kit and remake it to fit a different car. Some of the easiest style of kits to remake are: Black Widow, Buddy Club, Invader, Extreme, R33, and Octane, but virtually any style kit that is available on the market can be an option.

The cost would be as follows: 11-14 kits $649 each (plus shipping); 15-19 kits $599 each; 20-25 kits $550 each, 26+ kits $499 each. Each member of the group buy will have to agree to a $100 non-refundable down payment on their kit so we are guaranteed they will order once production is finished. Complete time for the first kit to be produced is 4-6 weeks.

The kit will be made of high-quality, lightweight fiberglass. The quality and fitment will be good, but as with all fiberglass kits, slight modification may be needed for perfect fitment. You can view our disclaimer at: http://www.fusionimports.com/terms.html.

A donor car will be needed for the first week or two of the production process to ensure good fitment. The car will need to be around the Los Angeles area, and the owner will receive a free body kit. Once the minimum number of buyers has been achieved, the first person to send in their $100 down payment will receive a $50 discount off their kit.

So, let's get this project rolling. Throw out body kit styles you have seen on the market (cannot be made by companies that patent their kit designs: Wings West, Kaminari, etc.) that would look good on the 1G. I'm guessing something not to ricey, just something subtle that goes with the lines of the car.

I really like the kit on the RSX, maybe they could move the "vent" to the left side instead? You know, for our intakes.:thumb:

I'd definitely be in for buying one, I'll even be the test car if they need. Let them know, I'm in Santa Ana, and am willing to take my car to them for even a few months if they need...hehe.

to be honest, look at what is popular with the DSM crowd nowadays.

when it comes to body kits, most settle for either a 97-99 eclipse factory front end, and those that want to get wild simply throw a RMDSM lip on it.

and frankly, the 2GB front end (the factory on described above) suits the needs of DSMers perfectly, it has a large middle opening, allowing for a very large FMIC core, and 2 side openings, that allow for an oil or tranny cooler if so desired.

I'm betting a mock up of the FACTORY 97-99 2GB eclipse front end, modified possibly to fit an even larger FMIC, with less cutting required, would sell like hotcakes in the DSM community. (beats trying to find a used one and chop it up;)

I like the RSX kit too. We could put a vent on either side if you want to satisfy everyone.

We could also do the 97-99 Stock front end if enough people spoke up for it. Maybe that's an additional job we can do.

Lol, I just realized how similar the two bumpers I posted are to eachother, and to the OEM one. Oh well, still looks good, and still different enough without losing the DSM "feel" for me. Let me know if they need me as a test fit car, I'm ready when they are.:thumb:

wow, thats badass, someone should make that kit, LOL. I would pay big bucks to convert my car to that.

I don't think it'd be quite the same, since our cars are a lot "rounder/shorter" and the roof is a little higher in reality... looks cool though:D

widening the body gives the illusion of a lower roof line. :thumb:

I would def. rock that kit. That is frickin b-e-a-utiful

Yeah, I know it does, but look at the glass outline on the left side of the pic, running from the hood to the roof, it's more angled than it should be, the right side (driver's) looks fine.... hmmm... I guess it's just the skewed perspective/miscalculations in the drawing. Being a graphic artist I'm real anal about those things, like how the rear is extremely distorted where the wing is. Oh well, mad props to the artist though, still took some mad skill as well as creativity to draw that.:thumb:

This is close enough for me... If I get that kit, I'll use a different front of course.

thats more than just a new kit...its more like a new body. It would be badass tho

Just a reminder, we can only make a kit that has already been made and modify it to fit your car. So, we cannot make a kit from a drawing. That requires extensive protopying and easily quadruples manufacturing costs. In addition, the only way it becomes profitable is with heavy advertising. No exageration it ends up being over ten times the cost and there needs to be almost a guarantee that several hundred kits will be sold as opposed to 10-40.

Let's get back on track with throwing out potential 4-piece body kits that would look good. That means no wide-body flares, door panels, etc. Only front bumper, sideskirts and rear bumper, or we can do a lip kit of course.

I took that pic to my bodyshop. I am looking to have my body redesigned in the off season and during the 2005 season. Lots of downtime, but I hope to pull it off. :D That pic made me realize that I need a wider car.

can you use the factory front end as your mock up? come on guys back me up, everyone always bitches and moans whenever someone gets one of these mega mouth kits with 15 vents that hang 2 inches off the pavement at stock height.

Maybe you could take the Bomex front end and make it what it was supposed to be. That is one of the best looking front ends available but it's complete ass how it stick out a foot in the front. If someone could take the lower half of a Bomex front and the upper half of the 97 bumper and put them together I would buy one in a heartbeat.

has anyone thought of making a evo 8 replica type of bumper for the eclipse/talon? and then just lip the rear, with simple side skirts

The black parts are what comes with the kit (door caps top and bottom, fenders, quarter panel covers). It's designed to be used with your choice of front and back bumpers, even OEM.
