I have a Big 16G that has been ported and clipped. Now I know all the stuff I need to install it and such but what I was wondering is if I keep it at the stock boost level would I be able to run this turbo on the stock fuel system until I can pick up and install a pump and some injectors, probably 2-3 weeks at the most?

P.S. - If someone knows where this has been answered you can just post a link. I tried searching but found nothing.

Thanks

If you plan on running stock boost for the time being, you can run stock boost with the stock fuel system. The turbo will be able to handle 20+ PSI but your fuel system wont.
Good Luck. :thumb:

If you have a logger you will be able to tell exactly how far you can turn up the boost before you start to run out of fuel & knock. Personally I was able to run 15 psi with my stock fuel system on my evoIII without any knock but every car is different. Keep it at 13or 14 psi and you should be fine.

I would be able to tell if it is knocking by if the ecu takes out a significant amount of timing correct, like 10-15* or more?

I have a datalogger, but unfortunatly 2g's don't have knock sensors (as far as I know) so I need to find out how to tell if I'm getting knock. I believe that this is the only way to tell on a2g if you are getting knock.

Really? I have heard multiple times that they don't and that is why we have to use the timing as the marker for knock?

as everyone has ###### said you can run stock boost on the stock fuel system. if your looking for some cheap rc550, 255 walboro, and an safc ive got em.

would there be any negative impact on the engine, performance or damage if bigger turbo is on it with no fuel supporting mods except for safc and fuel pump at 15 psi or stock boost? I have heard having bigger turbo w/o all the fuel supporting mods is not good for the car and will do some damage... can someone confirm this? reason I asked I bought my talon 3 weeks ago (1990 awd tsi) and it runs like crap, need to get it in good running condition and set it up the way it needs to be, and fix things that needs to be fixed as well. I do also have a big16g on it as well. thanks.

There is a knock sensor but you can't read it on a logger for second gens. Once timing starts being pulled that pretty much indicates knock
