I think the biggest thing missing from the DSM aftermarket is a CAST T3 flanged manifold. Everyone knows that to get a decent T3 manifold, you're typically paying upwards of 500$ and it is still prone to cracking.

I would just like to know approximately how many people out there WHO ARE ACTIVELY LOOKING FOR A MANIFOLD/TURBO would buy this product if it were to come onto the market. Please feel free to voice opinions in the thread, but try to limit voting to only those who are considering a purchase in the next 1-3 months.

Figure the runners to be approximately equivelant to the EVO3 manifold, with a waste gate flange and egt/pressure port also as an option. Price point approx $300-$350. Quality cast piece.

The advantages I see to this are: Simplification. suddenly ANY T3 hotside is available to use, and because this is the standard flange, all turbo options become cheaper.
Everyone knows that the Garret T3 hotside flows better than the Mitsu ones.

Disadvantages: If you did this it would require a custom O2 housing as the garret hotside has a different output flange. the manifold and o2 housing would end up being approximately the cost of an equivelant mitsu turbine turbo.

Soo what are you opinions?!?

Turbonetics makes a cast T3 manifold for the 4g63 with a mount for an external wastegate.

I don't have any experience with it, and it costs 485.

But I guess you're looking at making you own or having one cast by a shop.

Slowboy has said that they are making one that should be available this summer. They posted it on here a few months ago.

A couple of locals around here are using this manifold and I have yet to hear any substancial performance complaints about it. 98EclipseRS should have some more reliable input on this.

To the original poster:

And also, please keep this project updated. So many of these things are talked about but never followed up. Thanks.

I would have loved to have a cast t3 manifold with an external WG flange casted on. If that was the case, the cost to switch to that plus a custom o2 would be worth it :thumb:

Wouldn't going full garrett require a new custom o2 housing and maybe a custom dp anyway?

That's what I meant :thumb:

The whole thing with going t3 or t4 is that it is VERY expensive to do so, especially if you currently have a mitsu designed turbo. With quotes of 450+ for a cast manifold, the change vs. price isn't justifiable. Now if SBR came out with a cast one for 300 bucks, that would be :sneaky:

Boosted98gsx .. is your T3/T4 turbo has E or S comp cover? ... if NOT S cover do you think T3/T4 turbo with S cover will clear the waterpipe or not?

That is not my car. And it is an E-cover. Look at the protruding bolt hole material on the comp cover as well as the 3" inlet.

You are right that is NOT yours :D .. my bad WTF I just remember I have seen this pic on dsmlink forums few days back ... this is Jeff's car and that is GT35R turbo with E comp cover. I already sent him an email asking about the comp cover to water pipe clearance... but no reply yet

I remember reading this also, it should be a very similiar design to their cast manifold with the provisions for external gate, but in a T3/T4 outlet.

The Turblownetics (at least the older ones) were fairly restrictive in the runners and had to be ported to match the the gaskets. Some also had clearance issues with the WG positioning. SFP are known to crack (again and again). So yes, I think a cast T3 manifold made for the 4-bolt outlet Garret T3 would be warmly received.

Another option (which I've looked into recently) is the Hahn Mitsu-to-T3 adapter/spacer which they sell complete with ARP studs/nuts for $100. AMS uses something similar on their T3/T4 setups :dsm:

John, I, as well as a few friends, have one of those adapter plates.

Just an FYI for anyone interested, keep in mind it drops your turbo 1/2". A friend had to slightly grind his front motor mount for his SC61 to clear.

Also, the adapter itself may need ported. For example, I ported my EVOIII manifold to 7CM, which was bigger in some areas (since it is a circle) than the rectangular T3 plate. I had to slope port the adapter to keep flow unrestricted.

Take care,

Jesse

Yes, but this adaptor also requires porting to get it to work, and i have yet to hear if it allows an S housing or the surge port garrett housing to clear.

I am anxiously awaiting the SBR cast t3 manifold. If it is similar to their mitsu flanged manifold and comes in at the same 300 dollar price point, I'm definitely going to get one.
