Sidney,
I have a setup like this (see below) and I have oil vapor comming out my catch can. It really puffs out (it might also be becuase its cold up in canada this time of year) but you can smell, and feel the oil vapor. Is this normal? I am also having an oil burning problem which I have not isolated yet (could be turbo, could be valve guides/seals) if that helps

I figured, thanks :thumb:
Just like defiant mentioned, make sure the can you're using is an external catch can which will VTA instead of an internal catch can that is designed to route back to the intake. Also make sure you have hollowed out the pcv valve or replaced it with a straight fitting.

That's an interesting setup per the picture. I always thought those types of setups would re-route into the intake for some type of vacuum. I always figured a vacuum would help alleviate the built-up pressure in the engine vs. venting the pcv to the open atmosphere. Anyway, I have the cheap-o $5 setup which consists of a Fram fuel filter (for a VW Bug), some hosing, teflon tape, and a valve fitting from a hardware store. I know it works because the filter gets a good amount of oil in it in a weeks time (I can just dump it out). As for the pcv valve, I just change it every two-three oil changes since it's soo cheap ($3). If it's working right then there is no need to worry about oil getting into your intake manifold (just a bit of hot air/vapors). Here's a pic:

Don't hate, I'm still waiting for my recirculation adapter to come in the mail... :)

Sorry, i guess I should have clarified that the can is vented to atmosphere.

I hollowed out the my original PCV (it was not any good anyway)

Used up??? I hope not! Its got a rebuild less than 1000kms ago, and 167 across for compression (milled head)
