Turbonetics Manifold + T3/T4 Turbo + Tial 38mm Waste Gate

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

This is a write up for the Turbonetics manifold their 50 trim t3/t4 turbo and tial Wg I will also follow though with the building of the 3" custom Downpipe that is needed to make this all work.

Text will collaberate with the pics below.

1)The Manifold in picture #1 is how it comes and then the other two are a comparison of the collector with the gasket in place. As you can see there is work that needs to be done here.
2)Get out your dremel or porting tool file whatever you want to port the manifold to match the gasket.

The next photos show the manifold partially ported I was checking my progress and then finished and opened up to where is should be.

The Runner side you can see in the pictures where the work needed to be done to bring it up to standard. Same thing here is to gasket match the ports and make sure you get inside them to open the whole thing up not just flare the sides out. Alot of grinding is involved and its a couple hour job.

I apologize for the pics missing of the finished runners my camera died.

Here you have the manifold all ported and installed on the car.

Next we have to fabricate the custom downpipe. The parts you will need for this are;
5 Bolt flange
3" U bend with 45* angle on it
3" flex section
38mm Tial WG flange for your dump tube and the dump tube its self.

The pics show the 5 bolt flange on the turbo housing, then I mark the housing with the way the pipe needs to be clocked cut the pipe and tack it togeather. Once everything is lined up it can be welded togeather and is ready to go.

Notice in the pics that the 3" pipe is way larger then the oulet of the turbo so if you want to be super cool like me and have a full 3" some hacking is involved. There are 2 ways to do this:
You can make the turn from the turbo tighter then 90* with a couple cuts and bends in the piping or you can slash cut the pipe like I did and then beat the top inplace. As you can see from the pics the pip is a bit dented to make room for the bolt. This in no way effects the flow or size of the outlet as its still a good 1/4" beyond the flage and the turbo outlet is so small anyways.

Once the downpipe is all fit and in place the 02 sensor bunds need to be drilled and then the bungs welded to the pipe. I have the stock one and the WB mounted so I need 2 bungs. Its also a good time to mark where your EGT probe will be if it is DP mounted.

Next step is to bolt on that nice turbo and WG and see how it looks.

Do your usual prime the turbo run the SS lines and hook up your Oil Drain.

Here is a pic from the top. I apologize for the orange silicone I just put it on there and it hadn't dried yet to trim it off. I tired running it for 1 day with the gaskets they send you and it blew them so you have to use RTV.

Also its time to hook up your MBC. You use the side port not the top if you are using manual boost control leave the top wide open.
