Well I have been trying to bring back a 91 GSX auto from the dead for the last year now. The car was gutted when I got it I have had to put a motor/tranny/xfer case, wiring harness, and complete interior in it. (I bit off more than I could chew)

My ECU will NOT power on. I"ve tested all the connections and I'm getting power to the pins that need constant power and I am getting grounds where I need grounds.

I have followed this thread:

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=239406&highlight=ECU+power

Go down to what "Steve" said and everything is kosher.

I tested my ECU in a friends car and it powered right up and started the car no problems.

Is there something I am missing? This is driving me insane! Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

Your clearly missing something.
If you have a good ECU it will power up if the car does what I wrote.
If the CEL bulb is bad you would still see the boost gauge on turbo cars go to zero.

I suspect one or more of the steps isn't doing what I wrote and know which would point to a possible problem.

Sorry

I did forget to mention that the boost gauge does not go to zero and I do not get any of the light show when I turn the key to "on"

I am going back out today with multimeter and laptop in hand to retest EVERYTHING :toobad:

Check all the fuses in the box under the hood, there is one for the ecu operation, I think it`s labeled 'ENG' . . .:dsm:
On a 1G the two main fuses are on the positive battery terminal and they're are marked MPI and Ignition. The ECU is powered off the MPI fuse but half the engine bay and some of the important inputs to the ECU are off the Ignition fuse.

EDIT: The problem turned out to be the dash lights and the 3 year old gas in the tank.

I still havent dove into the cluster to find out why my CEL wont come on and the boost gauge go to zero when my door ajar, high beam light, and cluster lights all work just fine.

I checked and rechecked everything and I was too stupid to even pull a plug and find out I was getting spark. Turned out I was so I cranked on it and started it with starter fluid. Then drained old gas and replaced it with good gas and she cranked up.

It has taken a lot of work to get to this point and there is still a ton to do!

Thanks for all your help guys I will keep everyone posted.
