Im looking for the propper way of blocking off the collant lines on my 1990 AWD the new turbo is only oil cooled... I don't want it to leak or have any problems once I fix it proper....thanxs...

Plug the bottom one and loop the other one.

yea on the bottom of the big water pipe just get a bolt and screw it in there. ( I got a plug from AMS for like $1 ) Then cap the nipple by the t-stat housing. The first time I capped the nipple I used a rubber cap which must have been a vaccum cap or something and not held up to the heat because it started melting and I was shooting coolant out of there. I ended up taking a piece of fuel line and screwing a bolt into 1 end of it and clamping it down good. Then cut it so the hose is about 2" long and slide the open end over the nipple and clamp it there as well. I realize this is kinda ghetto but it works awesome and will never melt or blow off. Doesn't actually look bad either, in fact nobody has even noticed it on mine.
 
I took off the bolt on the bottom and packed in a bunch of epoxy. Let it dry overnight and then I just screwed it in the next day. For the nipple on the water housing I just used a rubber cap kinda like a vaccum cap. It seems to be all holding just fine. Been about 6 months now.
 
I wanted to be able to put the stock turbo in if need be..so chopping and filling it with goop just isn't a choice...it like to just block it off with a bolt and seal it....thanxs for any input...
 
When I bought my 50 trim i also got the complete install kit, and it came with a bolt that goes into the water pipe. and like others said, put a bolt in the hose coming off the waterneck and put a hose clamp on it , and you'll be fine.
 
Take a stock water return line, chop it off about 2" after the fitting for the bung on the water pipe. Then run a rubber coolant line from the water neck "feed" to the water line you just cut. Clamp em up. Costs you maybe $2 for 1' of coolant hose. That's it. Don't get to use stock water line any more, but oh well.
 
How I would do it:

-Get the stock return line, and cut it almost in the middle.
-The half attached to the water outlet pipe, loop it back to the thermostat housing to the feed outlet.
-Save the other half that goes to the turbo. When you re-install the stock turbo, just use a water hose with 2 clamps to re-connet the 2 "pre-cut" pipes.

If (for some reason) you get a bigger oil/water cooled turbo, you can just use a longer water hose to clear the "bigger" compressor housing at the same junction.
It's a versatile, free and reliable solution. I know because I have done it successfully in the past. :) :thumb:
 
that actually sounds like a plan I will just loop the 2 back into each other cut off the banjo part and save it...awsome ideas guys.. now all I need is a longer oil feed line off of the filter housing ...

Yep that's what I did the first time. It held up for a while but then it blew and coolant sprayed everywhere. Not the best solution :cry:
