hey all you at dsmtuners.com! I'm thinking about painting my car here soon. I bought my red Eclipse at a salvage yard totalled and rebuilt the front end with a 97-99 conversion. Well the hood and bumper are black from the factory not primed or anything and i found red fenders on ebay. So now my 96 eclipse is red, with a black hood and bumper. Well I've kinda got the rep around here and everyone knows what i drive b/c of the black hood and black bumper and most people think the car looks awesome with it and that I should just get a cf oem hood and and leave the bumper black and get some rims. Currently i have two 98 silver mitsubishi rims in the rear the 16"s...and on the front ive got the stock 96 rs rims...not the swirlies...mine came with hub caps. but i'm thinking i should just look for two more five star silver rims for the front. What do you all think? Cf oem hood, black bumper, red eclipse, chrome projector headlights, clear bumper lights, altezzas, 5% tint and silver five star rims? or should i just paint the whole car red and get the five star rims? any help would be appreciated...
I am also being sponsored by decalkits.com and they want me to put a graphic kit on my car. :thumbdown ....do not make your bumper one color and body another....do not.....i repeat...do not......first thing i would do is...get some sideskirts.....then repaint the whole car a new color....whatever u want....if you have enough money left over...full matching set of rims.....and NO decals....... i think most ppl here will agreee.....oh and the cF hood would be alright

IMO i would paint the bumper red and get a CF hood. And oh yeah get rid of those wheels

Now you understand why people hate carbon fiber hoods.

I dont think i would like having a "rep" for my car being mismatched colors. I would resemble every car my father ever owned. . .

Choose a color, paint it that color.

thanks for the opinions guys...i guess you all think i should get rid of the sponsors too? i mean i got one from decalkits.com and the other houseofboom. like house of boom i get half off but they sell their stuff for retail price...and the only sub that actually decent is audiobahn and they not that great...

Do you just get free decals from decalkits.com or what? If so, drop it, IMO. And do not leave that bumper unpainted..

decalkits.com is giving me a $625 sponsorship. i can get windshield banners, carbon fiber overlays, emblems, logos, graphic kits. i'm not really into the hardcore looks and all, i wanna go performance but i dunno but i figure if i can get any type of sponsor i can work my way up and get some performance sponsors.

I'd get a OEM style CF hood, space the hood pins out more than you have curently, have the whole car painted one color... including the CF hood. Get a good set of rims... 17's or 18's, with some nice tires. If you have money left over.... get a decent set of springs and shocks to lower it and give it the handling you will want.

I would Never put vynal on my car unless someone was paying me a lot to do it.
If they are giving you the graphics for free and $625 on top of that then hell yeah I would sport it for a while. If they are giving you $625 worth of vynal then I wouldn't do it.
I kind of like the missmatched body parts in some instances but there has to be something to tie it into the rest of the car.

When a company makes you buy from them with a "discount" on their already inflated prices, that is NOT a sponsership. Stay away from all that crap. NO ONE will give you a sponsership in your cars current shape. 10 grand later and you still probaly wouldn't have one. Look at all the awesome cars on this site, how many people have big sponserships that pay for their mods. If you get a sponsership, you are more or less working for the company by adhering to strict rules and show attendance to represent them and make them sell more product.

wow man...thanks for that post. that car look like crap with that graphic. well if i had got it i wouldn't have put it on til i got my car painted and my front two silver gs rims. but, i never wanted to really work on looks...i originally just wanted to paint my car, get some rims and lower the clipse hardcore. but, right now i wanna waste my money on performance parts. so right now i'm just gonna try and decide what to buy next for my rs...if anyone wanna let me know what they think i guess continue this forum. so far i got: ngk spark plugs, msd wires, injen cai, unorthodox udp, test pipe and muffler. i plan on gettin piping possibly tomo...well today considering it's four in the morning!
