hey, thanks for the replies fellas. I just looked up the Craftsman screw extractor set at Sears ($19.99), and PB Blaster ($4). Now, how much do I want to spend to remove that stupid screw? ;)

i'll let you know if it works.

if i was you id take the black vent cover thingys that came with the bumper, cut out the center and mount PIAA's behind them, thats what i did, looks better and works better then stock fogs any good custom shop can do that for u as well as wire them into your exsisting wires.

I've thought about that but I'm still confused as where to screw the mounts into. Do I need to make a new hole in the bumper or do I just use the notches? Also am I going to need to remove the front bumper to install them? The more I look at it the more I wonder..... And are there any good fog lights that won't require me to rewire my harnesses?

Ive seen the halo fog lights on other cars b4, never an eclipse, they looked alright, deffinetly an eye catcher. But judging from that picture it looks like ud need to modify your bumper, cuz they look pretty big, unless they have ones small enough for eclipses. Anywho b4 i told u that i had mine modified, heres what they did, one took off my bumper, 2 the cut out the circles in the black pieces,3 they put the black pieces in using the stock single screw, then 4 the mounted the foglights to a metal piece that was on my car behind the bumper, like say for instance a support beam or somtin in that matter, then they ran the wiring and put the bumper back on, my fogt lights are not in any way mounted or touching the black pieces, they are mounted so close, that they appear to be stock lights. very nice trick they did. as for mounting stock fog lights, im thinking youd have to probably drill holes in ur bumper to keep them on. i had to do that in the past with other lights i had mounted, and after all the different set ups i ran, i totaly like this one alot better.

heres how my fog lights look on my car, its not the best picture. but when ur infront my car it looks like a stock setup unless u get real close and can see the gap.

After searching vfaq.com and here, i cannot find a complete article/thread that could help out here. Im looking for a write up on removing the stock 97-99 fog lights and brackets. Im at college for a month so i dont have access to the stuff i need, so therefore its even tougher for me to try and diagnose it in the parking lot, and frankly, i do not feel like laying in the parking lot looking it over.

I took off the covers and took a look around, but i could use some help as to what bolts/screws remove the foglight in its entirety, bracket, foglight, harness, and all

thanks!

thanks! these were the bolts i was hoping they weren't though, it looks like i have to take the bumper cover off >< i shall find a way

thanks!

You could sell me your foglight covers if you're looking to get rid of them. :thumb: I'm upgrading to the 2gb front bumper and it doesn't come with foglight covers.

hey s ranger i tried to send you a pm back but your box is full. just send me another pm when you have some space and i will send you my pm again. thanks

Remove the bumper?? Heres a awesome link to help ya out...

WTH?

You do not need to remove the front bumper.

Remove your fog light covers. Take a screwdriver and pop one side out, and then pull with your hands.

There should be a swivel screw holding it in alignment which is clearly visible. Then there's a couple screws that are hidden from view. Feel around for them. All you need is a light and a Philips screwdriver.

3 bolts, easily accessed without taking off the front bumper. One of them is hard to get to because of the actual foglight housing. You definitely DO NOT need to remove the bumper.

Oh ok. :rocks:

yes, the swivel screw is in te upper outside corner of the fog, once taken off it lets the light rotate down. that reveals a bolt in the upper Inside of the bracket. i got that far, it was the location of the last two that threw me for a ride, and yes, the foglights will be for sale since my intercoolr piping uses the brackets as a mounting point

thanks guys

I didnt say he did he just said he was going to so I provided a link that had useful info, thats all:rolleyes:

Get a piece of cardboard and a pillow 'cause you're gonna be there for awhile...they are a pain. You can reach through the mouth of the bumper and get to them with a wrench,WD-40 is your friend...mine were very rusted.

Should I visit the junk yard to find one??? Wondering what you would do...

(Factory 95GST fog light.)

You could just replace the bulb. I believe it's an H3. $5 or so at your local auto parts store.

More detail on how it "died" would be helpful if you don't mean just the bulb burned out.

just take them out and get a front mount. or just get a new bulb. but get two unless you want to be like me and have one blue one and one white one LOL.

Yes, MrBoxx the RF foglight burned out. I've had my 95 since 97 and this is the FIRST light (interior and exterior) that has burned out! Thanks for the advice.

In that case, just replace the bulb. It's not extremely difficult. The instructions should be in your car owner's manual, and I can't seem to find mine at the moment to give you tips in case you can't find yours either. :)

A good tip is to just replace both at the same time because more often than not, the other light will probably burn out shortly after the first. Might was well get them both done at the same time. Good luck!

It will be, if the screws rusted. Happened to me on both mine.

It's a good decision to replace them with stainless when you can.

The bulb replacement is very easy. I replaced both of my old '95 fogs with silver*stars when one burnt out.

There are two bolts for the light, then you just slide the light right out. You'll notice on the opposite side of the fog light there is a little pin like thing that slides into a hole in the bumper to hold that side in place... just remember to put that back right when putting the fog light back in.

The hardest thing really is getting the wire to unplug from the light. Mine had a good amount of dust/dirt caked on there, and I had to work the plastic for a minute or two to get it to unplug. Then just pull the bulb and put a new one in.

Took me maybe 10 minutes to do both...
