Hey guy I think you maybe able to help me out with this problem. My 1g dsm started to have this problem I thougth it was the fuel filter but I change it and it still has the same problem. I start it then it runs for a min. or 2 then dies but I get it to start for longer by changing the idle. But it still runs bad like it has no power? What could it be?:confused::banghead::banghead:

I think it could be leaking air out of some place and maybe the coil. But dont know about compression or if the lifters are working rigth. would a leaking air some place could a dsm to start and then died.

1.Check if all your spark plug wires are shooting spark.
2.Check your compression on all cylinders.
3.Check injector pulse
4.Check for any loose or disconnected boost hoses.
5.Check and make sure your cam sensor is properly connected and none of the harness is frayed.
6Check your airflow sensor plug.

do you have a higher volume fuel pump? such as a walbro 255? i have this problem on mine. if you do, you NEED to get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. not sure if that would cause it to actually die or not.. most likely a vacuum/boost leak if your fuel pump is stock. or combo of both? someone correct me if im wrong though!

check the hose that connects from ## manifold to ## valve cover there should be only 1 hose that comes from ## manifold so its should be easy to find or else u got some issue.. LOL..it that is unplug or leaking it will not run right

Ok I will check. And I check the hoses and didnt find any leaks but I will check again and I will check my spark plugs. Could it be my fuel pump I still have the stock one? and if those are not it then I know it is the compression. could bad lifters cause any problems?

It's not going to be your fuel pump if it's stock. I read your post again and I think it's a vacuum leak.

Ya I have a boost gauge and a boost controller it is read 15psi of vacuum and when reving it the boost go to 5lbs. sometime just to 2lbs. Now it is running on its own but I sound like there still something wrong like the lifter or plugs or maybe my fuel pump is bad. Hey do you guys think I should put my walbro 255 and my fpr. do you think I could pass the emission test with these? or should i go get a walbro 190 to check if it is the pump?

Now it running get some power back now after new spark plugs and but i think it is the lifters and the fuel pump cause it backfiring a little. and after adding some fuel cleaner it get power back. so should I go with my walbro 255 and my fpr or should I just put on my walbro 190 and stock fpr. do you think I could pass the emission test with any of these set up?

Lifters either work or don't work. They won't start the car and then all fail at the same time.

Check for vac leaks.

ALSO check your timing. You could have jumped a tooth and the car would run like ass hole.

It could even be an ECU issue. It's really hard to say without
more troubleshooting

I think my fuel pump is bad and I am going to change it. Hey will a megan racing o2 housing bolt up to a stock dp? I am waiting on the other part to my exhaust and I have a megan racing dp and test pipe by they will not bolt to the stock exhaust I have.

sandiballs287 no the motor was f**ked up. So I have to build a new motor all ready started build a new one
