Hey guys! I recently relocated from Palm Springs to the East Bay. I just purchased a 97 Eclipse GST, FWD, Auto. The car has 87k miles, but me being a first time DSM owner, I'd like to get it looked at to make sure there aren't any ticking time bombs waiting to happen. I was told Sean at FFtec, but then another said they are trying to get away from DSMs. Can anyone recommend a shop, or an individual who can handle this kind of work? Ideally I'd like to get any maintenance items taken care of so the car is reliable, then we can look at modifying to have some fun. Thanks for any help. Here are some things Ive noticed on the car
-On cold startup, the belt squeals. I had a friend look at it over the weekend and he says the belt looks good, and he did adjust it, but its still happening.
-When putting the car into drive (its an auto) its a little rough going into gear. The transmission was just rebuilt 20k miles ago, so I am unsure if thats the problem, or mounts or?
-The passenger rear knuckle was replaced, but I am unsure if it was done correctly. Since they replaced it, the car has -1 camber. So I'd like to make sure it was done correctly, and maybe install a camber kit to fix this. The car has an all stock suspension, so I shouldnt need a camber kit right?
-The car just threw a CEL yesterday so I'd like to figure out what that problem is.
After we get the maintenance items out of the way, I'd like to talk about mods, and what we can do to wake the car up. Thanks for any help!
