just drove home my first gsx last night, we have had turbo dsm's at the house but never a gsx, hoping to learn a lot for other people with more wisdom, if you have any suggestions let me know im all ears, i wanna start by fixing all the little things first then start modding, first things first im going to start on the leaking p/s hose i don't want my alternator to die! and then move on from there it doesn't have too many problems for being a 20 year old car with only 60k original miles, any helpful tips would be appreciated thanks

Congrats on the purchase, and wow only 60k miles? Good stuff! I think you are on the right track, with doing all the maintenance first before you start modding. You want the car in tip top condition before you start trying to make it faster.

Good luck and welcome.

good find LOL yea im with killa on this one.... maintenance first and then mods....

yeah only 60k miles...well 61k miles now. yeah i wanna get everything good right now and then down the line start with intake, exhaust, bov and little things any suggestions on the route i should take when im ready to mod? and thanks, glad to join the dsm family!

AWESOME! 60K! wowiewow! LOL

I miss my 1G and I want another :(

Just follow the maintenance and you will be fine. If you don't, there are two other threads here on the norcal side that will show you what happens..

Wow low mileage, I'm thinking of getting a 1G AWD for autocross, I remember the few 1G AWDs I drove they handled very nice compared to the 2Gs and has better power than the T25.

I suggest hitting up the tech forum and vfaq, there's a wealth of knowledge. And of course the handy search function.

Good to see that you have experience with these turbo DSMs, I notice some people get em and just do everything wrong and wind up getting rid of the car.

yeah i have a little experience haha... i am a recently laid off gm technician,.. but dsm is a whole nother story, i did however fix my fog lights switch by removing the spring, and i fixed my leaking p/s hose just two orings and a lock washer and bam back in business! no more leaks and i saved my alternator for pure destruction! now im working on my headlights and little hoses and that should be it time to mod! i have a digital boost gauge i need to hook up and a tial bov, but the bov VTA so i dont think its gonna work so i might trade it for intercooler pipes or intake idk dsm parts (if anyone's interested its a red tial Q brand new bov, let me know) but with the headlights if anyone has a clue,id love the help...when i turn on my headlights they flip up, then i turn them off the right one goes down but the left one stays up, but when i hit the flip up button the lights flip up and down one at a time not at the same time, it does that for about 20sec then right one goes down and left one stays half way open sleepy eye look, any ways still workin on it, if anyone has any clue or knows exactly whats going on im right here! haha thanks....also if anyone needs HIDs let me know ill hook you guys up! thanks

It will NOT be time to mod until you replace that belt and inspect your pump.. As a Tech, you should know that at the very minimum.

alright so i fixed the o rings and crusher washer on my power steering and everything was good....for like 3 days and i realized it was dripping still and on the same spot,so i looked closer this time, i got my brother to turn the wheel while i examined and i was right, i ripped of the rubber power steering hose cover off and as soon as i wiped down the hose it started bleeding like an oil infected alternator disease! so now i need to replace the hose and its all good, if anyone else has a power steering leak you should check the hose, cut off the rubber cover, wipe it down, turn the wheel with the car on to build pressure and you'll see exactly what i mean and if you don't well your a little luckier! just figured id share what i found if anyone was interested, thanks

Dude...a 90 with only 60k. Nice. you did the timing belt right? Your at the mark and the age....I can't see if you have a sun roof. Any other problems beside P/S?
