Never ending problems first alternator then wheel bearings now my transmission, well anyways transmission is grinding from 1st to 2nd only does anybody know if i just add lucas lubricant for transmission would it help? or should i rebuild the whole thing?

maybe clutch but i think its going out...! when you shift from 1st to 2nd if you let the rpm's go low in between gears will it not grind... if so then i think its your tranny going out,,,

Try some PREMIUM gear oil like BG Syncroshift (what I use) or Redline. Its worth a try it'll only be a bandaid though if it works.

I've got some gear lash and a worn input shaft because of a botched rebuild (long story). Anyway... after loosing count of how many different gear oils I've tried to quiet it down and smooth it out, Redline MT-90 was the only thing that works and almost makes me forget about it. (I also switched to Redline Heavy Shockproof in the t-case and rear diff, and will never use anything else again).

But Omega is correct...it's just a bandaid. I plan on dropping mine for a rebuild and clutch upgrade in the next few months, but in the meantime the MT-90 is helping significantly.

Either adjust your clutch master cylinder rod at the pedal assembly toward the firewall (clockwise) -- as you may not be fully disengaging your clutch.

OR

Drain your transmission and use Redline MT-90 gear oil. Do not use Lucas thick shit in the transmission. It is nice to use when rebuilding a transmission or engine as an assembly lube, but NOT for normal use in a transmission.

OR

Get the transmission refreshed. It may be able to get away with just a stage #1 rebuild that replaces the 1/2 hub and slider, 1st gear synchro, 2nd gear synchro, 2nd gear, and bearings. You could easily have an intermediate shaft bearing failing causing the shifting issues as well.

Good luck,

Tim Zimmer
