You've got 4 months to get your car running, tuned, finished, ready, etc. I'll be working hard to get mine ready by then. Who knows what the weather will be like, but let's try and at least get 4 or 5 DSMers to show up to this event. Whether your car is built for road racing or not, stock or modified, get out there and get some track time with us. You don't need a race suspension or a bigger turbo. You just need some tires that aren't bald, some decent-condition brake pads, and a good running car with no leaks or other issues.

The asphalt has been laid. It will be ready to go come spring. Let's hope we can get some DSMers out there and have some fun! I've heard from a couple people that plan on making it out - anyone else out there planning on it?

The NASA event will be April 18/19, NASA's season opener. You can find more info about NASA's event here:

I'm looking forward to the new track, as are many others. Hope to see you out there with us!

That appears to be during 3rd quarter mid-terms for me.

Chris, for a new comer, what can they expect their first track day? Will they get to play on the track right away? Or is there a process to go through?

Chris, don't know if you've seen them, but there are a couple of threads about this on the local CO boards. I'm pretty sure there will be at least a couple Denver-area guys showing up to participate, in addition to you. I'd at least like to come out and watch if nothing else.

Anyone who shows up to a NASA event and has fewer than say, 5 track events (or none) under their belt will end up in the HPDE 1 or HPDE 2 group. You'll get the same amount of track time as all other HPDE groups and Time Trials groups - usually three or four 20 minute sessions spread out through the day.

You'll have to arrive at the track by 7 or 8am, depending on the event, for the mandatory drivers meeting. Each HPDE 1 participant will be assigned an instructor (included in the cost of the event) and will have to sit in short debrief meetings after each track session. You'll probably be on the track by 9am for your first session. HPDE 2 drivers may or may not have an instructor - if you're new to NASA and are put in HPDE 2 you will likely have an instructor. HPDE Group Leaders will watch you (or ride with you) on track and will determine whether or not to move you up to the next group - depending on the feedback from the instructor. It's more about safety and your track awareness than going fast.

Try and have your car all sorted out and ready to go before you get to the track. If you have to unload race wheels or tools, get there an hour before the drivers meeting to give yourself time. It's a good idea to get your car tech'd at a NASA-approved shop (like MAC) or you can get it done at the track - but waiting to get it done at the track might cost you some track time depending on the line of cars waiting to get tech'd. Bring food and water just in case - I don't know if HPR will have a food vendor there or not. Pueblo usually does.

Well, cool then. Hope they'll show up to this event.

New road course looks great!

I've really got to get my car off the jack stands and out there!

^^^Im with ya. I would really like to get into some kind of racing. The only racing i've ever done is just the typical street (illegal) kind. I couldnt exactly tell where this new track is. Any help?

60 miles east of I25 and I70, probably between Denver and Limon? I didn't look up the address.

Biggest problem with my car, it's in NC at the moment :toobad:

You also have to be a member Of NASA. Costs $44 to join. You get a year long subscription to Grassroots Motorsports magazine ( 8 issues ).

Sign up early for the events. HPDE 1 & 2 fill up very quickly.

I never thought the day would come when we would get another track.

Thank the Lord!:thumb::dsm::talon::laser:

Yes. HPDE has levels 1-4. You start in 1 with an instructor. When he feels you are experienced enough, he'll promote you to 2 and then you can go out w/o an instructor.

hpde? Is that like a beginer class? And where can I go to be a member?
No, it's not a beginner class - it's a program for people who want track time without being on the track with other cars that are competing and it includes 4 experience levels. The program does include beginner groups. The groups are separated by their level of experience.
