I'm Calling Luda Out... To Race!
Chris, I want to race you!
My good friend made me spend time at The Track in Centennial to go kart today. We have to make a DSM meet there. I was told some Colorado STi club met their today and did some go karting so why can't DSMer's?
So are you up for some go karting? Maybe in September?

I just went there today and my body started to fatigue after 10 minutes. I'm not in shape.
You can do plenty of laps in 10 minutes.

Any info on the rental karts there? Site says 13hp....that means nothing to me. I am assuming it is similar to IMI in Erie. They rent centrifical clutch karts that will do about 60mph.

The ICC karts they don't rent. But the way you play off 15hp you act like you drive shifters every day.
I had a blast yesterday just running laps with my friend. I just got the idea for a DSM meet there from the STi club that met there yesterday. So anyone that wants to have fun?
I forgot to mention earlier these rental's can go 55-60 mph at the track.
So where is Chris?

I'm all for it. If you're able to get more than 2 other DSMers out there (besides you and me), I'm in. I haven't had much luck getting the DSMers out here to do anything but meet in a parking lot. Hopefully you'll have better luck than I. Those prices are similar to what I used to pay in Cali for the good indoor karting places, so sounds reasonable to me.
Set it up Grant. I'll be there. I might be out of town the weekend of the 9th/10th, but the weekend after that should work.

I think I might go back to the track today after work to go practice more. I think maybe a Saturday may work. I'll figure something out.

Karting
Would you be planning this during the work day, after work, weekends?
Depending on when, I'm game. You can see how fast an "older" person can go. If ya can get past me, I'll be chomping on your rear!
What kind of rules do they have about how fast you can go,spin outs, etc.?
OK Chris all we need is one more.

It will most likely happen on a Saturday.
You can't bump or spin people out.
You can chomp on my "rear" all you want if you can catch it. (I'm not good by any means, I just love to have fun and try to improve).
I checked with my friend and he said he can't offer any price cuts, but he MAY be allowed to offer a little more time.

I think Mitch just wanted to make sure you don't have to shift the karts...because he's not so good at that.

So what's up Grant, we racing this weekend or what? Are there no other Denver DSMers that will do a karting event?

I only got 2 PMs (Fred and you). I just didn't want to leave Fred out because of his surgery.
I guess it's not that popular, I'm sure I'll think of something that will be popular among all the DSMer's here.
As for something to do to help build community among the local DSMer's, the CO scene seems screwed. Maybe time will tell before the great idea of the century pops up and appeals to everyone and their wallets.

There isn't anything wrong with CO DSMers in the Southwest, it just isn't worth driving 7-9 hours to go hang out. If there were something that didn't require driving half the day to get to I'd happily show up as I'm sure GSTinCO and Pagosa DSM would.

I don't think Grant was referring to you guys, he's more annoyed with the Denver-area DSMers. It seems to be pretty difficult to get people to do anything that involves money or a track. I've even tried posting a track event over on RMdsm and it didn't make much of a difference. I'm not sure if it's due to the area being clique-ish or that DSMers just don't care to get together.
Grant, PM me. Maybe we can just set up a small get-together at my place this weekend or something. Maybe we can get a few others to show up. I can bust out GT4 with some beers.

Most locals don't do road courses and even fewer will make the trek to Pueblo.
We had a pretty good number of people show up at Bandimere Sunday just to hang out so I don't think it's a matter of money.

That's too bad. Why is that? Why is it most DSMers (or most CO car enthusiasts it seems) are so stuck on one dimension of racing? I'm starting to miss that aspect of California. There were plenty of people who did AutoX, Road Course events AND Drag Strip, or at least there were plenty of people doing each. Lot's of cross over. Tracks out there were all 1 hour+ away where we lived but that didn't stop us. Out here there rarely seems to be any cross over - you're either a drag racer or you like the more challenging dimension of racing with turns, not both. And nobody seems willing to drive to track events that aren't within 20-30 mins.
I guess if you want a decent showing for a track event here in the Denver area you'll have to limit yourself to Bandimere events. Anyone interested in doing road courses, autox, or karting, you can count me in at least.
