Ok i am stuck in a dilema,
In a few weeks I am registered to run the SORC its a high speed race across the Sandhills in NE. I was planning on running the eclipse. However after learning more about the car, and having all the carnage early on this season it has left my pocket book a little light and I still need to get stuff updated to make it legal to run in one of the top classes.
I figure i got two options.
1) run the eclipse in GT 115 mph (135 tech) Cost $475 (already paid)
We need firesuits, gloves, nomex underwear, fire extinguisher(need either option), need to make a cover over the fuel cell, mount another seat, and I should get new tires. then keep my fingers crossed everything else correct. Also do the track day at MPH on Wed. ($100) If we brake we do option 2 except for driving back to lincoln or omaha to find tires early thursday morning.
2) run the Silverado SS in Touring 90 mph (110 tech) Cost $375 (get a $100 refund)
We need new tires and fire extinguisher. I could tow the eclipse down and run it at the track day, and then run the truck the rest of the weekend. Benefits are the truck has A/C don't need to do all the conversion on the eclipse to enter the race, and we don't have to buy safety equipment.
What would you do considering I will have to pay for additional expenses over the winter? Help?
Spend the money on tires for the SSS, or take the time and get the eclipse done up correctly???
