I have a few freinds that went through a few alter from driving there cars hard....

Just a idea, what if you ran a small tube to direact more air to it?

Stupied?

The alternator by itself isn't the issue. either oil caused them to fail or they must have there dump tube pointed straight at it. Getting air cirrculation under the hood would be a better solution

Funny you mention oil as the culprit as I have noticed my alternator having a nice film from time to time. Any ideas as to where the oil could be coming from?

Most often, leaking power steering pump. You can fix the power steering pump leak with a cheap o-ring set.

It really depends on what kind of oil you're finding on it. If it is motor oil your culprit is most likely going to be the dip stick tube, though you'd find oil all over anything nearby the tube if that is the case. If it is power steering fluid then follow the above post.

If you put a cooling tube pointing directly at the alternator you'll also be directing rain water at it. I'd avoid that myself.

Just make sure you have your heat shielding on the downpipe and manifold or some heat wrap. If it fails then worry about additional measures like a hood vent.

Just because the turbo sits kinda close to it, I was thinking heat might be a role in it.

Im prob going to put the alter in a different location with a kit.
