I am competing in the SORC (sand hills open road challenge) this summer and have a question regarding timing software for my laptop.

I am looking for something that connect my laptop to a GPS and find the average speed, current speed, distance traveled, remaining distance, what MPH I need to maintain in order to finish in the specified amount of time etc.

Just curious if any one knows of good rally software that could be used for this, or any other suggestions. I am not looking to spend alot of money and don't want to get into the custom "rally speedometers etc".

Will you have a navigator for this event? Are the checkpoints hidden? I know of stand-alone TSD computers that can do what you are asking. but as you mentioned the cost is a little high. Try throwing up that same post over on this forum:

Thanks for the info,

Greg, that wasn't quite what I was looking for but that looks way easier than than a AIM data logger I have used in the past and might be worth purchasing to log my actual racing.

outofideas327, I will have a navigator but i would like to make his job as easy as possible. You are allowed to post your own signage along the route before hand (if you have a chance) to mark out miles etc. Yea stand-alone TSD computer is out of the question. I am just running this event for fun not going to take it real serious just thought some $50 dollar software might be available to do all the duties of the navigator.
