It's about time!

Quote:

"Red Bull GmbH officially announces that following completion of the takeover of the Minardi Formula 1 team on 1st November, the team will be known as Squadra Toro Rosso (which for the non-linguists among you is Italian for “Team Red Bull.”)

In addition Red Bull GmbH announces that its driver line-up across both its Formula 1 teams is David Coulthard, Neel Jani, Christian Klien, Vitantonio Liuzzi and Scott Speed".

I frigging can't wait

I heard this last night as I was watching the Chinese GP ...late night haha. They also mentioned about someone else having around a 175 mill budget for another team, but didn't say who. I'm sad that this year's F1 has come to an end. Those guys are amazing drivers. Did you see the pass that Kimi put on Alonso at the Japanese GP? That was crazy.

The cars are beyond belief with the technology to support them. I'd like to see a little more driver ability, (little less traction control) the g-forces and power must be totally intense. And I agree, the season seemed like it came and went way to fast. I can't wait to see how competitive it is next year...

It was Fisichella who Kimi passed...Alonso would never let him get away with that :thumb:

And when was the last time you saw the safety car come out for manhole covers coming off of the track? (china)

My bad...I thought it was Alonso, but it was atleast a Renault. Let alone the safety car, what about that moron who ran over Schumacher before the race even started  I never heard all the details on that one though, but that was crazy.

Yeah that was a strange one. Cristijian Albers (Dutch former DTM driver) was, well, I'm not too sure what he was doing. The FIA reviewed the footage, and saw that Schumacher had moved over on Albers while Albers was doing a flying lap, so placed blame with Schumacher. Hard to tell from the angle SPEED Channel gave us though.

While we're at it, who do we think is the better driver (disregarding the speed disparity F2005 v R25 v MP4/20), M. Schumacher, Alonso, or Raikonnen?

And who thinks Mitsubishi needs an F1 team?

I'm kind of a Schumacher fan, but nothing serious. I don't know what made him so good for so long that changed to make him so eh this year. What really fixed my interest on him was -I don't remember which race, I think last year- when he needed to pull out a 1-minute lead, and then went on to just do it, making some ten seconds a lap. In modern racing, those numbers are insanity. But I always wonder how much is driver and how much is driver.

I'm not sure F1 regulations would allow an ugly enough nose. Then there's the trouble with the pit mechanics refusing to work on the car, claiming it had been modified and is now the responsibility of the driver to repair it. Other drivers will undoubtedly file grievances for the hazard of being pelted by shards of ejected timing belt, and the unseemly stench emanating from the ECU.

Ferrari has been dragging ass this year. Oh well, I still love them.

I would not mind seeing a few American drivers out there.. as long as they don't act like assholes.

I like Ferrari, but they grossly overestimated that ability of their 2004 car being able to compete this year vs other teams 2005 car. I doubt Schumacher would have even finished 3rd if not for the Indy disaster. Tires to played a big factor early on with Ferrari since they Bridgestone was new to them. I started becoming a Kimi fan as the year progressed.

Will Speed and his new partner be using Ferrari engines just as Klein and Coulthard?

I read in Autosport that the new Red Bull subsidiary team, "Squadra Toro Rosso" will remain as it was in the Minardi days, but with an extra $100 million or so of Red Bull money. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

Agreed.

I think they may not have seen much point in putting a whole lot of development into a 1-season car, what with the change to V-8s next year.

It'd be nice to see the class of Phil Hill or Mario Andretti on the tracks again.
Isn't Speed a neighbor of yours, Mike?

A Busa? Are you kidding? It would look like a moped.

Next season will be interesting with the motor changes, new cars, and this new team.
Are they going with one tire manufacturer still?

I'm sure they'll deal with the tire issue after this years fiasco in the US... ya think?

Hey guys I dont know much about F1 cars
How fast are they? Who would win, a busa or F1 on a track(any track)

Any track short of a mile long straight away I could probably take a busa in my car. Bikes are only faster in acceleration thanks to their better hp/weight ratio. But when it comes to turning and braking, 4 wide tire patches are much better than two skinny ones.

I happen to be good friends with Mr. Montoya and I know of scott speed. I used to race karts with juans little bro. I def think the new Red Bull F1 team is going to have a lot of learning to do. To be honest I don't think scott is are guy, I think there are a lot of other talented Americans out there that are not getting there chance. One thing that does suck is the red bull challenge to get a chance at the F1 team in my eyes fails on finding good drivers. One of my other good friends Joe D' Agostino was a finalist was in my eyes far better then the winner of the competition. My 2 cents :thumb:
Another little side not for your guys intrest since we are all into cars. I happen to be studing engineering and one of my good friends who works for Rahal Letterman who owns Danika Patriks car told me that in the beginning of the season BMW had those funky little defuser on the front of the car. Well really what those where being used for where a propulsion system 7 feet behind the car. If you don;t believe me look, If you ever see a perosn on a bike with a flag going down the free way look at which way the flag is blowing. (it blows in the oppisite direction) :sneaky:
