ok, here is the deal. this is not on my 95 tsi awd.... this is on my 92 non-turbo. when i start the car when its cold it takes a VERY long time to start. not a big deal, but it runs rough on the starts and sometimes throws off the cel, then the cel shuts off and it runs fine. when im driving the car will randomly throw the cel. start bucking, turn off, then go back to normal. i can hear a clicking when this is happening. i dont know if its the ecu or what, but all i know is it doesnt feel good. i am afraid to drive at any rpm above 3k because it jerks VERY hard, feels like the motor just dies, sometimes it does when at a stop (happened once or twice). i also know that i will have to replace the timing belt within the next 5k miles. does that have anything to do with it? please send me your opinions and info ASAP. thanks

If you are getting a cel, there should be a code set and stored in the ECU. Read the code and it should tell you what is worng. My guess is that it's a TPS problem.

i dont know how to read the codes? i thought autozone could only read them if its an obd-2 system thats 94 or newer. maybe im wrong becuz thats only what ive heard. any other opinions?

I don't know. You may be right. You can do it on the older models with nothing but an analog voltmeter.

sso... today i capped off the battery to make sure that its not contacting the hood and causing the prob. thats not the prob. i read the computer using the buzzer and i got a constant buzz on and off meaning nothing is wrong, the check engine light flickered on once, and it read (i think) that the fuel pump is faulty. does this problem sound like it could be the fuel pump?
