Alright, I bought this car about a week ago, private sale. The day I bought it everything worked fine, shifted fine, idled fine etc etc.
A day later it grinds horribly into second gear, but if you double clutch it into second it wont grind, but if you try to double clutch from 3rd to 2nd it grinds no matter what. I had 3 tranny shops test it, and got a couple quotes for repair all around 1,200.00, I paid 1,700 for the car. Im not sure if it is worth fixing or not. Ok well back on track to the reason I started this thread, my car has been idling at 3,000 rpms, it is very cold here in NH right now. It does this when the engine is cold or warm, everytime you push in the clutch or have it in nuetral it idles at 3 grand. It will go away for a lil bit then come back. It didn't do it for 3 days, then came back and it wont stop doing. Some days it will do it for about 20 min then stop for the rest of the day, somedays it will do it non-stop. This has all happened in about the course of a week. Now the temperature here has been anywhere from 0-30 degreess farenheight. Im not sure what would cause this, what do you guys think? Sorry for rambling, just venting. Thanks alot!

Check the cables going to the t.b. to make sure they aren't sticking. Have a friend push the pedal down a few times, hard, slow, fast, and easy or whatever... Just watch to see if it is sticking. I had a similiar problem, I just adjusted the cables and it fixed it.
