first off...i know this is simple, and i know you guys are going to tell me to "do a search." i checked vfaq.com first and found EXACTLY what i needed, however, the link was broken so the page doesn't work. what a pisser. did a search on here and didn't find the information i needed...if i missed a certain thread on this please post the link for me:)

i need to replace my thermostat and i wanted to read up a little on it before i tackle the task. where exactly is the thermostat? the upper radiator hose goes past the radiator cap too a connector 'thing'...my dad says this is where its at. remove the two bolts and its under there. correct? thats basically all i need to know it think, just reassurance that i am about to remove the thing i need to remove. any other tips would be appreciated:thumb:

Personally I go with a "vented" 185 (I cut off the little brass plug on the vent, also called a "weep hole" in some threads) so some Coolant goes thru block at all times (heater flows all the time of course) - Engine temps still run hot enough to satisfy ECU & FIAV. Go with a high grade Aftermarket or Stock from Mitsu - & use a Stock Mitsu Radiator cap.

Be careful not to over-torque Thermostat Housing fasteners!

I took that weep hole one step further and drilled it out to 3/16. It takes a little longer for the engine to warm up, but here in FL it's not that bad, but the engine runs cooler. When I turn on my fans my temps run 190 all the time. Before this mod my temps would be 195-210 with the fans running.

the weephole trick sounds like a good idea, i'm in florida too so running a little cooler wouldn't be a bad thing..especially in the summertime. but i'm not to sure if i'm comfortable doing stuff like that *just yet.* i just got the car a month or so ago and i'm not sure where i'm headed with my modifications. crank walk scares me:(

anyways, thanks for the replies...this board sure is A LOT faster than the honda board i'm on.
