Ok I've read the VFAQ a couple of times. So I tried the manual. I have a 1990 mirage with a TURBO colt GT wiring harness. Which only came in a 5speed if I'm not mistaken. I have everything wired up to the best of my knowledge. I can not get the car to turn over from inside the cab. Only by giving the ignition wire on the starter a 12volt current can I get the starter to engager.

Ok so you know that I used a 5 speed engine wiring harness but I used the stock automatic dash harness so I'm thinking that the nutral safty switch is not in this autmatic dash wiring harness. So what I'm going to have to do is find pin 104 VIA ( www.vfaq.com under electical) and ground this manually. The only bad thing is you'll be able to start the car without pushing the clutch in.

Can anyone verify this for me that I'm going to have to manually ground this pin 104 so that when I turn my key over it will engage the starter.

Hmm I wonder if that cable that goes from the OLD autmatic shifter to the ignition has to be in a certain position for it to give power to the ignition wire.

I know that an automatic has to be in nuetral or part for it to be able to start the car so I'm wondering if this cable should be taken out and me have to maybe ground a wirei out in the ignition or maybe give one power.

This is really frustrating me.

Oh by the way here is my setup if this helps any.

GM maft translator 3 inch blow through setup, 510cc injectors, Toyota supra TT fuel pump, Spearco FMIC 20 x 6 x 3, 2.5 inch piping all the way around, HKS SSQ BOV, K&N filter for 5.0 GT mustang. Greddy EGT and boost gauge, Edelbrock wide band 02 (or equvalant), Blitsz boost controller, Apexi TT, Cyberdyned fuel and oil pressure, Full three inch exhaust all the way back, 1990 TUBO AWD ECU, Stock 97 awd clutch and pressure plate, DSM FWD transmission, DSM FWD flywheel, awd eibach sportline one inch drops, KYB AGS 8 way rear and 4 way up front.

Heres some pics of my goods for fun.

Well If you want someone to answer your "Question", you would have to go ahead and add a "?" somewhere in your post!

I'm just playing wit ya slapnuts. ;)

You are correct, the 104 pin is a neutral safety switch. In the 5-speeds case this wire connects to the clutch switch.

There is nothing wrong with being able to start the car w/o pushin the clutch in. Some say it even helps with thrust bearing wear, especially with heavier clutches.

You can ground it, or hook it up to your clutch switch.

I have a 92 AWD, and the TMOIII EPROM mod. This allows me to studder launch by pushing the clutch in and stepping on the gas all the way. The ECU see the position of the clutch switch to know if the car is studdering at say 4500 rpm, or if its going to go to the redline.

I had to hook up 104 to the clutch wire for the ECU to recognise these two conditions.

So you can go either way with it, its your call.

hope this helps.

Sure no problem I got it running today and shes kinda lump I'm taking it to go dyno tune it. I got my tax return in and I'm building a 2.4 liter stoker for it. I have all the parts for my awd coversion. All I need to do is sell my eclipse to buy a tig welder so that I can do all the fabrication for the awd coversion. Oh buddy I can't wait.
