Heat died....tried a search/no luck

Well, it's -2 degrees out and I have no heat. It worked two days ago when it was about 20 degrees. The blower blows, but only cold air. Any ideas on what I can try before I have a mechanic fix it? Also, my radio and power door locks stopped working too. Not sure if that can relate. I know the radio fuse blew and the "heat" fuse did not, but i don't know about other fuses. It's too cold out there to play with it right now.

Check you actuating cables if your coolant's full. DSMs don't have valves in the heater, just hot air doors.

Per Defiants' advice.. make sure your coolant level is ok.
Too little coolant and the heater core does not get fed.. hence the cold air.

What's you temp guage read?
If it's cold all the time too then replace your thermostat. Mine always failed open so the engine wouldn't ever heat up.

Thanks Guys. My coolent level is good and my temp gauge does rise to a normal level. How can i check my actuating cables?

You have to get into the passenger footwell and grovel like a dog. Get the Haynes manual if you don't have one.

Ok, so I get home from work and I'm about to try what you guys suggested. I start the car and let it warm up a few minutes. It starts blowing warm air! It fixed itself! Anyway, thanks again for the help.

ok new questiosn for everyone
why do i only get air coming outta the vents when i turn it to full blast, no air from 3 out 4 positions, to top that off no heat, and to top that off my selrctor for where i want air to come out doesnt work in all positions

thats what i get for taking my dash off ehh

Check your blower resistor. If it's disconnected or burned out the blower only runs on hi.

Ok i got heat now, the cable had come off and now its back on

where is this blower resistor?

Behind the glove box. Pop the stoppers so you can swing it down and the resistor is on the left.

I think I found it. Round silver thingy with 4 metal prongs I turn car on i get air on full blast, i remove the resistor try to turn air on and get nothing. hmm what the hell...
