are A/F gauge readins affected by not having a Downstream O2 sensor??

I just ordered a RnR turbo back cat eliminator exhaust sys. And my question is this, since the downstram o2 isn't going to be there no more (I'm going to strap it to ground) would that affect how my A/F gauge is going to work? I don't know if they work together or not.....

I bought them both new not to long ago (the upstream is an original o2 sensor and the second one is a bosch) I bought them thinking I was going to get better fuel mileage but I didn't. The thing is, I don't think it's giving me accurate readings it's not bouncing all the time like it's supposed to when idling.. Like it goes to lean ... rich..... stays in rich for a sec then comes back to lean but it doesn't bounce back and forth all the time, I mean is that how it's supposed to work? when I floor it, it does read good though... well give your opinions please!

Thanks :thumb:

A/F gauges suck! All they are good for is like you said, seeing that your running rich at WOT. Other than that they are a decorative ornament and an annoying one at that. I think my gauge does something different everytime i start it. As soon as I start it, it runs lean until it start to warm up, then slowly goes to the stoich then once it is warmed up, it bounces back and forth. It changes though on the norm. I am only running one O2 sensor currently. One of mine went out after my turbo, mani, and O2 swap. My EGT's are still normal though. Get an EGT especially if u plan on tuning, it is a necessity.

Later man, good luck with her

well I was just concerned beacuse I was going to be putting the exahust system and I need to know if anything changes after that since there's no cat o2 sensor I'm scared to run lean with the gauge lying to me and all... well anybody's input would help a lot.........

the downstream O2 sensor is only there for checking the effincey of the cat. your car is up to oprateing temp it will stay right in the middle range only the upstream O2 must jump from lean rich
