ok well i tried to replace the alternator and no luck the car runs for a while but then dies. then the car wont start. battery dies. what are my options if i get a replace ment alternator does it have to be direct replacement or can i buy the one wire lead alternator. my question is if i do that will the battery symbol stay on for ever? is=f so is there any way to stop it from doing it. also if i get a new alter nator and still dosent work what cna be my problem? Wheres the alternator fuse in the 2 gen talon esi non turbo front wheel drive. i know its in the engine bay but which one a picture wouls help me. but i checked all my fuses and there allc ool maybe i missed one or so. well any help would be cool.

There's a big fuse on the left side of the engine bay that actually bolts in. Check that one. Had the same problem on my brother's '93 TSi and that turned out to be the problem.

when you say left do you mean within the fuse box or is there like another fuse in the line from the battery to the alternator. cuz i checked the two fuses that bolt on the engine fuse box and both are fine. not blowm or am i mnissing something crusial well need help. thanks guys

also along with check the fuse i would check the negative 8 gauge eyelet that connects to the altenator. i changed my battery 3 times and altenator 3 times and it still wasn't charging then i found the eyelet connection looked fried. so i replaced it and then everything was fine.

ok negative wow thats new to me LOL. ok so wheres that at. i see theres two white 8 gauge wires that go from the baterry to the alternator and theres like a plug or harnes that hooks up behind the alternator is that what your talking about .
because this is it how it looks like.
two 8 gauge wires white go tot he battery
one red and black smalll tiny wires that connect to a harness begind the alternator join. and thats it i see nothing that grounds the alternator a picture might help
