ok well my car overheated a few weeks ago and it turned out that i made a stupid mistake and drove it when it was low on oil aswell  well i have learned my lesson. well anyways we fillied it up with oil and then it started alright then right before we turned it off the engine siezed up. what exactly should i look to do now. take the engine apart? if so what should i look for? is my engine pretty much shot? any help or opinions on what my next plans should be are greatly appreciated. money is not gonna be an issue so if i need to get a new engine then let me know if its happened to someone before. thanks for the help.

How low was the oil?? Did you notice a big drop in pressure? As the engine overheated it would have used a lot of oil which you may not have noticed maybe for the same reason you didn't notice the heat problem.

You need to start looking for a replacement block / engine at the same time as you pull this apart though you may only need to bore and install oversize pistons. Look at cams for scoring so you can determine if a replacement head is needed. Plan on removing the block but pull the pan so you can see the rod and main bearings which may be ok. Look for metal in the oil, bottom of the pan, cut apart the oil filter and expand the fanfold for a close inspection. If the bearings look good check them with some Plasti-Gage so you know the fit and then determine the crank condition.

Let us know what you find.

Cheers,
GTM
