Selma,
yeah i got a problem. my car seems to be over heating. i took the thermostat out and it helped but not like i thought it would. it still gets a little hot. but yeah i swapped motors. its a 93 awd tsi and i put a 90 gsx motor in it. the gsx motor had an oil cooler on it but i took it of and capped the lines. could this maybe cause it to over heat? and i cant seem to get enough water in it. because the smart guys a dsm didnt put the filler on the radiator. but yeah im not sure whats up. if anyone can help, please do!!!. ok thanks

later
JJ

Well where to start.

1) Get enough coolant in it. There isn't a cap on the radiator itself, there is a filler above where the T-stat goes.
2)Put your thermostat back in.
3) Are your fans turning on? The car will overheat if they don't.

Proving your old thermostat was bad. Put a new one in, modern cars don't like running without them.

Test your temperature sender, it may be going as well. And get the oil cooler working, they didn't put it on there to add road-hugging weight.

Originally posted by Nighthawk01 assuming you have a/c,, turn it on, and check to see if the fans are operating. they both should be on.

IF the car is up to 187 - AND IF the interior fan switch is on - Below Engine Temps of 187 only the Driver's side AC fan comes on when the AC Button is in.

Tighten up Nighthawk01 ;) !!
