K.....say if my timing was off, would it cause my car to run hella rich and bog down at higher rpms? or do our DSM have electronicly controled timing like some newer vehicals? just wounderin.

and say my timing was off....what degree should my timing be at?

its a 92 Eagle Talon TSI AWD Turbo...

Thankyou for any help.

If your timing is off by only one or two dgrees you may not notice anything. If it's off by a lot, in either direction, it will cause problems. To far advanced and it will knock, too far retarded and it will be sluggish. Yes, the timing is adjustable on 1Gs, read the how-to at www.vfaq.com, here's the direct link: http://www.plymouthlaser.com/timin.htm

It explains exactly how to set it. You'll need a timing light and a jumper wire though. Basic timing, at operating temperature, at idle, everything off, in neutral, should be 8 degrees BTDC (before top dead center). It should be 5 degrees BTDC with the timing adjustment terminal grounded (read the VFAQ if you have no idea what I'm talking about).

Good luck.
